Big Weekend for Women's Volleyball

In my promise to cover more of the smaller team sports I wanted to let all of you know the Women's Volleyball team has a big weekend coming up. The #2 Lady Lions will be facing two ranked opponents in #15 Missouri and #7 Texas. The Time Warner Texas Invitational will start Thursday night at Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas.

The Lions are off to a hot 6-0 start and have only lost two games all season (both to LSU). The Lions are led by sophomore outside hitter Nicole Fawcett who averages 4.15 kills per game. This Lion team has dominated the Big Ten winning eight consecutive conference championships. The scary thing is they look poised to continue dominating as freshmen Megan Hodge and Jessica Hanz are already making significant contributions.

Missouri is 6-1 with a recent win over #21 Notre Dame. Texas enters the tournament with a record of 4-1. The Penn State-Texas match will be covered live on national television on College Sports Television. Livestats for both games can be monitored on www.TexasSports.com.

I think I might enjoy posting on these smaller team sports. Especially if it give me reason to post pictures like this one.
