Bad Rap for our Secondary?
Just looked at some of the stats for the season and found some interesting stuff that shifts some of the blame for our losses from the Secondary to the DLine.
In the 4 losses we had a total of 4 sacks, we never got fewer than 4 in any of the wins.
181.75 ypg and 4.01 ypc allowed rushing in the losses, 41 ypg and 1.43 ypc rushing in the wins
the secondary also got 6 of their 10 pick for the year in those 4 loses.
Maybe guys were so open that the DLine didn't have time to put on pressure...but i do also recall a number of plays where the QB had all day.

Excellent Point
That and build a stalker-esque shrine to Jeremy Boone.

Another way to Look at this

Simple
Michigan: Hart had something like 45 carries for 150+ yards, but they only scored like 13 points. The Defense played well enough to win that game. The offense just couldn't make Michigan stop giving the ball to Hart and force Mallet to make plays. In retrospect, PSU should have thrown the ball 60 times to make the game longer, and force Mich. to score points.
Illinois: The Defense got run ragged because of turnovers, and bad special teams play. Also, you can't blitz Williams as much because he runs well. Keep in mind that the D really turned it up in the second half, and actually played very well.
Ohio State: The Injury related carnage is starting to takes its toll on the Defensive line at this point. Not only can't they get pressure with four guys (because OSU's O-line is good), now because of lack of depth, they are getting run on too. If you can't get any pressure, and can't stop the run, you are going to get beat deep (and often) no matter who your corners are. Also, Ohio State played awesome that day, if they played that way against Illinois they would have beaten them by three scores too.
Purdue: Penn State should have lost to Purdue who played really a really inspired brand of stupid that you don't see every day. FWIW, however, Morelli played well, so did the offensive line and Evan Royster. But this is game where the defensive injuries really became apparent.
Michigan State: Same deal as Ohio State and Purdue except with more players out on the Defensive Line, and more lost depth in the secondary. The team was a MASH unit by the end of the second half, and the guys ran out of gas. I am using copious amounts of booze to block out everything after the fake field goal.
