Purdue Post Game Thoughts

One good thing about being out of the BCS race is that style points don't matter anymore. There's no such thing as an ugly win when all you're playing for is to finish third in the conference.

This was a game that neither team seemed to want to win. Penn State spotted Purdue seven points out of the gate by letting Dorien Bryant run 98 yards for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. Then Purdue kept committing personal fouls to give Penn State easy yards. Penn State was going in for a touchdown when Andrew Quarless jumped offsides. Purdue was going in for a touchdown when they fumbled. Penn State missed a field goal right before the half, but Purdue ran into the kicker to give them another shot which they converted. Penn State was driving for a touchdown when Kinlaw fumbled. Purdue couldn't do anything with it and gave it back. In the end it was Purdue who wanted to lose more than Penn State did. But like I said, a win is a win at this point and I'll take it.

I was really disappointed in the student section. No, they were on pretty good behavior this week, or at least the ones that showed up. By the time Purdue had run back the opening kickoff the student section was only half full. It never really did completely fill out. The senior section was pretty well represented, as you might expect on senior day. The rest of the sections were pathetic. Way to support the team on senior day. I guess it's too hard to get up early enough to catch a noon game. Next year I don't want to hear any moaning when student section tickets sell out in 45 minutes.
