National Champions!

Fresh off the Fencing Team National Championship from a few weeks ago, a second spring sport has brought home a national championship to Dear Old State. Congratulations to the men's gymnastics team for bringing home the trophy.

One thing this blog has done is made me realize how great some of Penn State's other sports teams are. I guess I never really appreciated that. This is a record 12th National Championship for the men's gymnastics team. Congratulations guys.

Hail to the Lion loyal and true
Hail Alma Mater with her White and Blue
Penn State forever! Molder of men
Fight for her Honor! Fight!
And Victory again!

Nothing to do with anything, but...
What are your thoughts about King being left off SI.com's preseason "Top 10 CB" rankings?  Guess now he can have that figurative chip on his shoulder...

I'm not too surprised
His stats aren't great. He only had one INT last year and he didn't get many tackles. He looked pretty bad against Notre Dame last year so unfortunately that's what people remember. Nobody remembers how every other opponent wouldn't throw to his side of the field. Also he was arguably he was the third best player on our defense last year behind Poz and Connor. But honestly, I don't worry myself with these rankings. I could really care less. If it gives JK extra motivation then it's a good thing.

It's SI
We're talking about Sports Illustrated here.  Great photography, and Peter King's coverage of the NFL is top-notch, but the rest of the magazine has no excuse being printed.  As far as I'm concerned, JK not being in their top ten is a feather in his cap.

Don't forget Rick Reilly
He wrote the Paterno "Sportsman of the Year" article and always continues to have nice things to say about him. He's a light, breezy read.
