Applying for Penn State

So, I'm a high school junior who is about to be applying for colleges. I've always had a special place for PSU in my heart, and it's my number one choice if at all possible. So I'm just wondering what small tips would you suggest to me to help me get as much scholarship money as possible? Living in GA means I will have to pay the over $24,000 tuition unless I get some money, and there is no way my parents will settle for me going there. GT is nearly 5 times cheaper and will substitute for me if I can't get enough scholarship money from PSU.

I'll probably be a Mathematics major, and my current SAT scores are above those of the middle 50% (I got a 690 in Reading and a 680 in Math) and I'll probably take the ACT just to be sure that I can have as many fallback colleges as I can possibly afford.

So to summarize this post: What small things can make registering easier and how should I go about gaining scholarship money?

P.S. Nick Saban already appears to be in trouble:

Scholarships
Let me start this post by giving the disclaimer that I am in no way a financial advisor. I'm not sure there is much advice I can give you on getting scholarships. The only thing I can say is do a lot of research on what's out there and apply for as many as you can.

There is always student loans if you don't mind having some debt when you come out of college. That's what most people do these days, but make sure you're in a field where you can get a job. Too many people graduate with $30,000 in debt and a useless degree that forces them to work at the GAP to pay it off.

Apply for all the financial aid you can. It has been my experience that schools look at the assets and income of the family and come up with a number you should be able to afford. Then they usually make up the difference between that and tuition with financial aid. Remember, if your SAT and grades are good enough, they want you to come to their school. They will work with you.
