I was just thinking.  Maybe the ND administration knew what it was doing extending Weis's contract.  

I mean think about it ... who would care about a ND team that is 6-6 or 4-8 every year?  Everyone will talk about them going 0-12, right?  Wouldn't you want to see them set records for ineptitude?  

A bunch of bad, but not terrible seasons & they fade to obscurity.  Maybe they figured the only way anyone would care about ND long term is if they are one of the worst teams ever.

Just a theory ... a little tongue in cheek, maybe, but who knows. :)
