Penn State Ranked #25 in Final Coaches Poll.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm

Just BARELY holding on with 127 pts.

HOW?

Also, a UFlorida team that got PWNTED! by scUM still earns a #16 ranking. Awful.

  2. USC
  3. Georgia
  4. OSU
  5. Mizzou
  6. WVU
  7. Kansas
  8. Oklahoma
  9. VTech
  10. Texas
  11. Boston College
  12. Tennessee
  13. Arizona State
14T. BYU
14T. Auburn
  1. Florida
  2. Hawaii
  3. Illinois
  4. Michigan
  5. Cincinnati
  6. Wisconsin

how
could Michigan be lower than Florida?  Same record and scUM beat Florida.

I am glad to see PSU make the top 25.  That is 3 years in a row.  lets get another top 5 next year.

Simple
SEC > Big10

So even though the Big Ten beat the SEC team they are still not better than the SEC team. They just got lucky that day.

How is it
OSU is still ranked ahead of WVU and Kansas?  Either of those teams would have spanked the Vest in a bowl too.  And Wisky in at #21????  Didn't they lose their bowl game to Tennessee?

One other thing...espn.com is reporting that Rodriquez is talking to the AP saying that he doesn't expect Manningham, Arrington or Mallet to come back.  Mallet's father claims he has not made a decision.  Could this be Rich Rod's way of getting rid of Mallet?  Just a thought....

This will
also pave the way for Pryor to go to scUM.

Wisconsin above PSU?
Penn State played an extremely comparable (if not tougher) schedule, had an identical record, and absolutely laid waste to the Badgers this year, yet Wisconsin is several spots above PSU.

This type of thing is the exact reason why, for all of their flaws (especially in such an upset-filled year with many good teams being injured for significant portions of it), I'll always favor the computers above human polls.

On that note
I'm sure Wisconsin is griping because they handily beat Michigan but find themselves ranked lower.

Mich > PSU > Wis > Mich

How do you resolve that? I don't know, but I can see how it happened. The UM, W, PSU order of the ranking mirrors that of the preseason poll. In the end when voters can't figure out what to do they fall back on their preconceived notions.
