Penn State Bar Map Mashup

Want to find a bar showing the PSU game near you?  Thanks to everyone who wrote about their favorite bar in the PSU bar post last month.  I took the info listed there and created a Google Maps Mashup for each bar.

Click on any of the points of interest and get info from other BSDers about the bar, the address, and the website and food/beer specials (if available).

If you have a bar you would like to add, just post the info in the comments and I will add it to the mashup.  I'm sure there are still tons of PSU bars that are not on the map.

Let me know what you think.

Is Ned Devine's Really a Penn State Bar?

I live in Reston, VA, and usually go to the Rhino Bar in Georgetown. What is the atmosphere like at Ned’s? Thanks!

by dontcallmescooter on Oct 1, 2008 10:31 PM EDT   0 recs

I’ve heard Ned Devine’s no longer on the list of viewing sites (at least according to the Alumni Association). I know someone who was in there last year by chance during a game, and it was about 5 forty-somethings in PSU shirts talking about their upcoming divorces. There really needs to be more bars in the DC area, because I’ve always felt the Rhino can eat a bowl of dicks.

Should I take Ned Devine's off the map?

If you know for sure that they do not show all the PSU games, then let me know and I will remove it.

BTW, these don’t have to be official alumni association bars. Just bars that are PSU friendly and show ALL of the games.

I’ve check their website, and they don’t have anything on there about Penn State in the sports part of their webpage. I’m sure they show a lot of the games, I just remember hearing through various people that Ned’s wasn’t a certain bet for games anymore. I would just hate for some person to drive to Herndon to not find the game.

TAKE NED DEVINE'S OFF THE LIST OF BARS....

i was one of the unfortunate ones to drive to Herndon to find out that they no longer play PSU games….plus they were closed at noon (temple game). so….take ’em off the list.

Any PSU bars in Madison, Wisconsin?

Don’t be shy, lurkers. I am new to the area and would like to drink in a Posluszny jersey without being heckled by cheeseheads.

Madison

I’m in Madison and looking for a viewing spot too. I’ll send you an email.

nice work

Just another reason why BSD is awesome.

Excellent Work

Kevin, you should include a permanent link to this in the bar post.

In case anyone didn’t notice, I put a permanent link to the bar post on the left sidebar so you can reference it any time.

by BSD on Oct 2, 2008 8:36 AM EDT   0 recs

I've added it to the post

Great stuff. I’ll try to continue fixing the format as we go. That map really helps, though.

New Additions to the Map

H n B, Is there a procedure for sending you additions to the map? I didn’t get around to putting in the alumni association bars in Colorado, but could send you the addresses and a little information.

If you walk in and don’t see the game on one of their numerous TV’s just and they’ll put it on immediately when asked. Though they usually have it on by the time I arrive anymore.

Tampa?

Anybody got one in Tampa that’s not Fox & Hound in Brandon? I’ll be there for work this weekend and am looking something closer to Westshore since my transportation in nonexistent.

by The Mess on Oct 8, 2008 9:20 AM EDT   0 recs

I live in Tampa

And I haven’t ever watched a PSU game at a bar. I don’t know of any friendly places unfortunately. I guess it’s good to know about the Fox and Hound, but that’s damn far away to get wasted at.

I could tell you tons of OSU bars though, they spring up like freakin’ wasp nets. It sucks.

Sucks

Another reason why the Tampa Bay area blows and real South Florida rules. Not like we really have any PSU bars here either…

by The Mess on Oct 9, 2008 5:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I've been spening ALOT of time in Ft laudy lately

and I’m going to have to disagree. Then again, the Steelers won two titles in Miami, so I don’t exactly hate the place.

Does anyone know where we can watch the game in Niagara Falls Canada this weekend?

by Illyse on Oct 14, 2008 5:31 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah

Drive a few hours south to I-80. Follow signs to State College.

Somebody asked the same question earlier

in a different thread, check the archives, and go where they are going.

Well

It is an option. You just choose not to take it.
