NO respect....
Are you kidding me? What two teams does he think we are going to lose to for us to play in the Capital One bowl?

Cpaital One bow: i like that, for now anyway...
this squad seems to have the leadership and focus to make the run at the MNC, and the stupid shit these so called “experts” put out there seems to drive this team even more… i say keep it up dickbags, but us in the motorcity bowl after week 7 for all i care…
PSU needs just take care of business one week at time and then we’ll see where we are…

yeah, I wouldn't worry too much
although, to be fair, it would actually only take one loss to put us in the Cap One this year.

BCS rules
3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:
A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.
That’s the BYU/Utah winner and Boise State. For all practical purposes, that leaves 2 spots for the SEC #2, Big XII #2, and Big Ten #2. History shows the SEC and Big Ten #2 would be picked, but I see Feldman’s point in that the Big XII #2 would be highly attractive.
Win out and we won’t have to worry.

Actually...
there appears to be more to the the rules:
No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be in the pool of teams eligible for selection by the bowls as at-large teams.
Only one of those teams is an automatic pick. Penn State at 11-1 will go before the second highest non-BCS conference team.

Oh, I misread that.
I thought it meant that if two teams from the same BCS conference qualified, then only one could go. This means that they only have to pick one of them. You’re right.

Pitt to the Sugar
Now that is the funniest thing I have read in a while. If that happens something is wrong.

Pitt in a BCS???
Unbelievable… We should defect from the 10 and go East.

Pitt is 4-1
AND They don’t have an unwinable game left on their schedule. AND They can probably lose two games and still win the Big East.
Pitt in the BCS is a very real possibility.

I personally hope they make it...
because the Big East, to my knowledge, does not have a BCS bowl tie in, like the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl, so if PSU doesn’t make the National Championship game, then we can all travel to a BCS bowl and watch the Lions lay the smack down on our their in state rivals…plus it gives the BCS more incentive to take PSU as an at large team if that situation comes to fruition.

Feldman AND Schlabach
…picked Pitt to a BCS game. Schlabach put them in the Orange Bowl. That would be just like the time Pitt got to a BCS game and got killed something like 35-0 against Utah.

Probably...
Unles they play Wake Forest (which they would in the Orange Bowl), in which case they might win.
I think that the Sugar Bowl picks last this year, and therefore that is there most likely destination.

Wake is not that bad....
they have a good defense and would most likely be able to hold the Pitt running game in check. I would go with the Deacs.
I thought only safeties played 15 yards off the ball?

I think Pitt will probably lose 2 Big East games
But depending on how things shake out could still win the conference. Its wide open with the exception of Syracuse and Rutgers. Like several times in the past, some 11-1/10-2 team will get the shaft of a matchup with an 8-4 or even 7-5 Big East champ. Shameful. The Big East as a whole should not get an automatic bid, and there are several examples of that in the past.

Speaking of bowl games....
I know the conference ties don’t line up for this thought, but in an off year (10-15 years from now) I’d like to see Penn State some how squeak their way into the Aloha or Las Vegas Bowl.
I need a good excuse to go to Hawaii, and Vegas would be a no brainer. With the Penn State faithful, there’s no doubt we would fill both those stadiums more than they have ever seen.

Penn State with 1 loss
is a shoe in for an at large BCS bid. Joe is possibly in his last year of coaching and think of the ratings, and ticket sales that would be generated by his “last game”. Now if Pitt makes the BCS as the Big Easy champ, you could have a match up that many on here have hinted at recently. All PSU has to do is win 4 of the next 5 and they have BCS. Win 5 out of 5 and they are in the championship.

also...
at this point the lions should at the LEAST make the Capital One bowl…I don’t see them collapsing and lossing three games…One and they are an at large BCS team, two and it is off to the Capital One bowl, and three will get you to Tampa for the Outback…I don’ t see three loses on the schedule…
