Vote for JoePA
I know there are BSD bloggers out there with no love for JoePA....but give the man his due. PSU is firing on all cylinders as we are hitting the stretch run of our schedule. We all hope the Lions take care of business this week for our showdown in Columbus. Chances for a BCS or possible NC game appearance look good as long as the team stays grounded!
Which brings me to my point in all this.... Let's recognize the man that has taken us to the promised land twice already (along with multiple other occasions when PSU got F'd 68,69,94 amoung others)!
Here is the link for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year......let's make sure that if this is Joe's last year (God forbid...unless he so desires) he goes out on top!

Isn't this the same JoePa
that ESPN and OTL claimed has lost control of his team? I’m just throwing this question out there for the group:
If Penn State goes undefeated and wins the national championship, should Joe be disqualified for any coach of the year awards based on the behavior of our players off the field?

I'm sure there are people that will look at it that way
and so that will likely cost him another CotY honor, but anyone that actually looks at the program should see how he handled those players, which would actually bump up his ranking

I knew Montgomery
Didn’t play football, but had him for several gym classes. I went to WAHS from 1988-1992.

Was there.....
89-93 and had the distinct displeasure of playing for him! Landed at a local I-AA school for 4 years though so I can’t complain too much. Saw somebody had a BSD facebook page and wondered if it was you.

Is Coach of the Year
the same as Mommy of the Year?
Didn’t think so.
If this is some kind of determining factor, we’ll just have to have the WWL go to each school and play ‘Count the Convictions’ (weighted by felony or misdemeanor), divide them by number of victories, and multiply by post-bowl rank.
Final decision made by BSD readers.
Sound fair?

Coach v. Babysitter
JoePa can not be responsible for tucking each player into bed at night. PSU has not nor ever will recruit ‘bad’ kids. Do some of our players make bonehead decisions…yes….but a coach is not meant to be around 24/7 to make sure no rules are being broken. PSU’s graduation rate speaks for itself and people familiar with the program know that Paterno prepares his players for life after football. He is a class act and should be appreciated as well as rewarded for a fine season. Here is the current leader board…..r we really going to allow a BYU coach to top the board?
Bronco Mendenhall Brigham Young University
Paul Johnson Georgia Institute of Technology
Mark Richt University of Georgia
Nick Saban University of Alabama Tuscaloosa
Randy Shannon University of Miami (Florida)
Skip Holtz East Carolina University
Les Miles Louisiana State University
Joe Paterno Pennsylvania State University
Bob Stoops University of Oklahoma

Randy Shannon?
Is that a joke?

Yes - a knee-slapper
But Skip frickin’ Holtz is even funnier.
I can’t stand to see these guys ahead of JoePa, so I make it a point to vote twice a day; once from the office, and once from home.
Skip frickin’ Holtz.
Gaack!

Joe must go
Maybe you bandwagon-jumper-on-ers could stop stop tongue-bathing each other long enough to explain to me how Joe kept Clark or Devlin on the bench last year in favor of he-who-shall-not-be-named.
And do it in some meaningful way. Don’t give me the old loyal-to-the-senior bullshit.
I’m listening. But he still has to go.

Hey JO!
Look through my posts…….never have I once advocated for Paterno to go and in fact have steadfastly held to the opposite view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why does Joe get to stay……..because he has earned it! He is a living legend that has done more good for PSU than any coach has ever done for their respective institution. He wins win integrity and continues to win at age 82. Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe last year and people were calling for his head in AL…..now he is a god again. Fulmer won a national title not all that long ago at UT and now is on the hotseat. Schiano was a genius the last couple of years but is laying an egg this year! My point is that there will always have diagreements about how a coach handled a particular player or managed a particular game……where there is no argument is that Joe Paterno is good for Penn State…..good for college football ……and has earned the right to go out on his own terms!
