Hope he gets picked up somewhere else

and also: those words in your title, in that close proximity, played tricks on my eyes/brain

Pissed

Andy Reid has shown he has 0 commitment to the run. This is obvious by their futile goal line offense (and defense for that matter). His cutting Hunt is just another example — he finally picks up a big power back and can’t figure out how to use him.

Reid’s idea of a running back is a big slot receiver, because he is obsessed with the screen. Then it comes time to get 6 inches for a TD and he doesn’t have the personel to do it.

I’m a huge Tony Hunt fan — he carried us for 2 years when we had nothing else going on offense. When he went to the Eagles I was skeptical because I already knew of Reid’s run-phobic offense meant Hunt wouldn’t fit in. Hopefully he get’s picked up by someone else…

“(and defense for that matter).”

Philly’s goal line defense has been one of the best in the NFL for the past few years. Last year especially, but two years ago versus the 49ers, the Eagles held the 49ers out of the end zone from the 1 yard line for like 7 plays over 2 series. One series ended with a fumble returned for a touchdown – from the 1 yard line.

“he finally picks up a big power back and can’t figure out how to use him.”

Because Hunt’s not a great power back. He’s not strong enough to drag a LB/DL forward a few inches, and he doesn’t have a lot of advantage as a RB, either, as he doesn’t have great lateral quickness.

Hunt’s biggest problem is that he’s not strong enough to be a fullback, and he’s not fast enough to be a running back. If his blocking would’ve improved (which it didn’t) he would’ve been a great fullback, as his skills as a receiver are pretty darn good. I thought he was worth keeping at FB, but his blocking almost seemed to get worse.

But probably Hunt’s biggest problem was that he couldn’t stay healthy. That, you can’t blame on ’Reid’s run-phobic offense.’

I honestly don’t think Tony was ever given a real shot. Obviously I don’t see every practice and it could be that he wasn’t doing the job there… but the fact is that the guy had 14 NFL carries to show what he can do. How is that enough?
