Need Extra Motivation?
I'll never forget where I was when this happened. A collection of Penn State fans assembled at my friend's house. After the winning score was thrown, no one talked. No one moved. We all just stared at the TV until about 10 minutes into the 6 o'clock news. Its time for revenge. What a horrible feeling. Not this time though. Lets end this ridiculous steak right now.. Its time to beat Michigan.

If I was Joe
I’d tell every guy who plays a single snap on defense that they’ll have to run a couple 40s for every TD Michigan scores. Challenge the players so there’s no possible way they let off the gas. Make Michigan remember this one for a long time.
A championship team should wipe these guys off the face of the planet. Accept nothing less.

ahh I remember where I was too..
Watching it at my friends house in Columbus. All the Ohio State fans were rooting for Michigan so they could still have a chance to win the Big 10. I was disgusted that Ohio State fans could root for Michigan.

OSU Rooting for Michigan?
Disgusting. Do those OSU fans actually consider 2005 a BigTen Championship, or would they rather just not talk about it?

I was about 30 rows up in that endzone
and at first I couldn’t see the play, becuase of the way their crappy stadium is designed, and with people standing in front of me, I couldn’t see the back of the endzone. For the first second or 2 after the catch no one in the Big (but not biggest anymore) House was cheering, so my buddy (who took leave from the army for the weekend and flew out from Germany just for that game!) started to get excited. Then they erupted in the quietest full stadium cheer I’ve heard outside of Northwestern. God that ending sucked (the extra 2 seconds, the “catch” that was out of bounds, and then the catch to end it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR)

We were close then
I was in the same end zone, maybe 40 rows up. So, when you complain about the 2 seconds, are you referring to the 2 that Paterno had added to the clock during the last PSU drive? Since this was done during a TV TO and never mentioned during the broadcast, I feel like the few PSU fans who were there have an obligation to spread the word on this. Of course, that means less blaming refs and more acknowledging defeat, so I won’t hold my breath.
Oh, and Avant’s catch was good, the toe hit first.

I was there....
and i don’t remember there being any time added earlier. And as far as the Avant catch is concerned…it doesn’t matter if the toe hit first, the heel landed out of bounds and the entire foot needs to remain in bounds for it to be a catch.

But unfortunately, the entire foot doesn’t have to remain inbounds. But it wasn’t a catch anyways, he was OB. Watching the replay at not acknowledging that is classic “pro my-team denial.”

My reaction exactly...
I couldn’t move… just sat in shock in my hotel room in Fort Wayne, In. I was damn near close enough to hear the damn crowd. Thanks for dredging up that memory. I literally got a damn chill down my spine looking at those pics.

I’m not sure I’ll ever fully recover from that loss. Still makes me sick to my stomach to see that and be reminded of how a perfect season was taken.

I want to embarrass scUM. I know it is not very classy, but if any team deserves to be embarrassed it is scUM.

I have a shirt that says that
with the Penn State lettering. I’ve worn it to the past few Michigan games, and a few other Big 10 games. I always enjoy going to opposing stadiums and have Wisconsin/Purdue/Michigan State etc. fans all tell me they like my shirt.

Michigan Fight Song
There is a rumor going around that the PSU student section intends to sing the Michigan fight song at the end of the game. How about the entire stadium learn the words to their patehtic song and sing it to them as they crawl out of our house.!!!!!!!! LET’S GO!!!!!!
This may be the craziest atmosphere ever at Beaver Stadium. Don’t Miss It!!!!

How about 1999 or 2002?
Even more motivation…
1999:
Score: No. 16 Michigan 31, No. 6 Penn State 27
What happened: With 9:44 left in the game, the Wolverines trailed 27-17 at Beaver Stadium, but quarterback Tom Brady (256 yards, two touchdowns) would lead the Michigan offense down the field for two touchdowns in the final frame. Brady ran the first score in on a five-yard run with 3:26 remaining and hit receiver Marcus Knight on an 11-yard strike for the second with 1:46 left in the game. The Nittany Lions drove down to the Michigan 25 yard line when linebacker Ian Gold stripped Penn State quarterback Kevin Thompson to seal the Wolverine win.
Penn State outrage level: Hot – The Nittany Lions were ranked higher, playing at home and held a 10-point lead with less than 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter when Michigan stole the win and cost Penn State a chance at a Big Ten title.
2002:
Score: No. 13 Michigan 27, No. 15 Penn State 24
What happened: On Penn State’s last drive in regulation, officials rule receiver Tony Johnson catches third-down pass out of bounds, negating Penn State’s chance at setting up a possible game-winning field goal. In the first overtime game in Michigan Stadium history, the Wolverines defense holds Penn State to a field goal before running back Chris Perry pounds in the game-winning touchdown.
Penn State Outrage Level: Hot – Subsequent television replays showed Johnson was actually in-bounds. Penn State later filed a complaint with the Big Ten.
I think 100 points is appropriate.

Not only did Johnson have one foot in....
he had two feet in! That catch would have been good on Sunday and the official that called him out had an unobstructed view!
05…..needs no discussion
07 …..was pathetic…….Mike Hart had his way with us
08……let’s destroy these bastards!
I thought only safeties played 15 yards off the ball?

I think the entire Penn State fan base is calling for total destruction. No holding back! 50 points and 500 yards at the absolute minimum!

When they put the 2 seconds on the clock...
My husband looked at me and said, “hell, what are 2 seconds”. If it was a movie you’d say “foreshadowing” for sure. I was stunned… then I was at the game the next year and couldn’t believe what I was watching. As for last year, I am still trying to understand the offensive play calling. I can still feel the agony watching the game way back when where we were 1st and goal and 4 times Joe called for a rush up the middle and 4 times we failed. Pathetic. The only bright spot – 1994. I still have my t-shirt that celebrates the beat down in The Big House. I may need to be burried in that one.

Two seconds
I personally hate the constant complaining by PSU fans about the 2 seconds added in 2005. Time gets added to the clock all the time and I’ve seen that exact same situation (where time is added because the clock ran after a TO was called) in a number of cases. It’s really not an issue. People constantly complaining about it give PSU a bad name and look like whiners because that’s not something that deserves complaint.
OTOH, the catch by Avant where he came down out of bounds is a legit complaint. Not only was it called incorrectly, but it wasn’t even reviewed, which is absurd. What is the purpose of replay if not to review a close play, at a critical time late in the game?
Also, the instances of crooked walking when spotting the ball in that game were furthermore pathetic. Mostly because the refs were simply being blatant in their bias.

How about 2000?
2000. Michigan led 27-11 when running back Chris Perry scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run with one second left on the clock. 100 percent d-bag move. I hope Chris Perry get arrested. Oh wait… too late.
It was 2000 when I began to hate Michigan.

2 More Seconds Chant
I for one will be chanting TWO MORE SECONDS toward the end of the game, maybe at the end of the 1st half.
I think it would be really funny to get a chant like that going if we’re blowing them out…

I had...
all my furniture out of the living room and was carpet cleaning during the end of the game (while watching, of course). My wife and 1 year old were in the office watching. The whole end of the game we were screaming back and forth over the sound of the vacuum. I was so pissed that I just kept cleaning…and cleaning…and cleaning—the carpet has never looked better! My daughter kept looking at us like “what is WRONG with you people”?
