what, no one started yet?

I fully expected at least one or two early morning posts by people heading to the game. For all those heading to happy valley – have fun!

All jacked up....

and headed to my kids playoff soccer game. Do you think I will be a little intense on the sideline?!!!! I can’t stand 4:30 games because I bounce off the walls all day!

Go Lions!

Friday Night Tailgate

on the big ten network was all about happy valley. Paternoville was larger than ever! They asked JoePa if he would ever camp out on concrete for five days and his reply was “depends on what she looks like!” Gotta love it!

by Lovethosefreakinnittanylions on Oct 18, 2008 9:19 AM EDT reply actions

I watched that last night...

That was awesome to see Paternoville and the student support. I won’t be at the game; and I’ll be watching the tube and listening to the radio. Let’s go Lions; kill the streak!
Everyone have a great time and someone drink a beer for me! My prediction: PSU 45-3.

Joe, what play should we call? Let's try running it up the middle!

by unitboy on Oct 18, 2008 9:33 AM EDT reply actions

4:30...

When was the last time we had a 4:30 game time? Does anyone remember?

by chakey on Oct 18, 2008 10:38 AM EDT reply actions

Let's go State

This is the year where the 9 game losing streak loses. I can’t wait to see D. Clark and Co. rip the Wolverines to shreds.

I wish I could watch the whole game, but I gotta go watch my Longhorns beat Mizzou.

by PSUinTexas on Oct 18, 2008 10:46 AM EDT reply actions

AHHHH!!

Every year I mark this game down on my calender.. I get sooo antsy when we play Michigan. It’s going to be a good game and not a blow out, although i hope PSU destroys Michigan, but it’s going to be closer than what people think. I still remember 2005’s game like it was yesturday.. and it will be hard to forget unless we end the 9-year losing streak today. Let’s get’m WE ARE… PENN STATE

Iowa up 7-0 and driving.

Wisconsin looks like a team that has given up. No emotion at all. They’re just going through the motions at this point.

That is the game I am the most interested in. I think I want MSU to win or atleast show us how to beat OSU.

by jetskijoe on Oct 18, 2008 2:15 PM EDT reply actions

Congratulations Wisconsin

You are the new Minnesota. Please take your place at the bottom of the Big Ten standings.

This team is awful. Absolutely no heart. P.J. Hill gets bumped up and takes himself out of the game in the first half. He’s been sitting on the bench ever since. Dude, you’re on a three game losing streak and ABOUT TO LOSE YOUR JOB TO A FRESHMAN. Grow some cajones, man.

The rest of the team just doesn’t care either. No bounce in their step. Poor technique. Just awful.

by BSD on Oct 18, 2008 2:33 PM EDT reply actions

so true

it makes our win against them not look so good now. it is going to hurt our SOS in the end. I am afraid that we might be fighting for a NC spot if/when we win out.

by jetskijoe on Oct 18, 2008 2:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Forget that.

We still have Ohio State, Iowa, and Michigan State. It’ll be enough.

Maybe

But if you stop him, what else can Iowa do?

by BSD on Oct 18, 2008 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Not much, but what if they don't have to?

Really, that’s the scenario. Penn State’s offense will have to stutter a bit on the road and Greene will have to be effective (which isn’t a ridiculous notion).

Not calling for an upset or anything, just putting it out there.

by Run Up The Score on Oct 18, 2008 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions

The *good* news...

…is that Iowa will probably be ranked by then, so it’s not like it’ll be a trap game.

by MeetMeAtTheCorner on Oct 18, 2008 3:11 PM EDT reply actions

I did read that

Pretty funny. Hard to believe how realistic the Michigan fans are being about their team. They seem perfectly comfortable with the fact their team is 2-4 and about to be blown out. It’s a pretty foreign notion to our fan base.

by BSD on Oct 18, 2008 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions

No way to spin it.

There’s really no rational argument to be made on behalf of Michigan. What’s the best thing to say? They have a slightly above average defense?

Vanderbilt

Still in it with Georgia late in the 4th on the road. I don’t think there’s any question that this is a legitimate top 25 team anymore. Regardless of the outcome, this is the best team they’ve fielded in decades.

by gumbercules on Oct 18, 2008 3:27 PM EDT reply actions

Good thing...

were doing so well this year. Our games are consistently being picked up for tv coverage. I live in Omaha via Chicago and i was dying tryin to watch the play by play on btn’s site for the first couple. Chicago is the home of the big ten so I could at least catch a good amount of games last year. On a different note, I was in lincoln for the nebraska-mizzou game and everyone in Omaha thinks Nebraska game environments are the best in the country. It was fun but doesnt hold a candle to Beaver Stadium. Just a little FYI.

by MeetMeAtTheCorner on Oct 18, 2008 3:32 PM EDT reply actions

Oh great

Watching the coin flip of the Alabama/Ole Miss game. Zombie Nation is blaring in the background. We need to come up with a new gig before this one gets old.

by BSD on Oct 18, 2008 3:35 PM EDT reply actions

When it comes to Ohio State

I think a lot of us forgot that “below average for Ohio State” doesn’t mean “bad”. But hey, we’re in a position where we should be (1) undefeated and (2) a modest favorite in Columbus. It’s still the best case scenario.

Michigan State’s not helping their own cause, either.

Penn State is looking dangerous

Game started bad, but the team did not panic and now are blowing them out.

Just can't do this against a good team

Meatchicken does still suck. We cannot afford to come out flat like that again

This was a big test for Penn State

they faced a fired up Michigan team and had to deal with them. The team absorbed the early drive and then took over the game. I am an Oregon State fan, and have been cheering for them this year since they defeated my Beavers. Please destroy the Luckeyes.

Got the Monkey off your back

Every good team will get tested, Penn State passed their test today. Ohio State and Penn State should be the game of the week.

by orangemocha on Oct 18, 2008 7:51 PM EDT reply actions

Mark May is a Penn State hater.

I can’t believe that they can watch that game and him and Chris Spielman were so quick to pick OSU next weekend. They didn’t even think about it.

The thing about this team

If we get behind this Offense can turn it around and put up points. Even if we are down by 21 at 1/2 I still think we have a chance. Our older teams you couldn’t say that about we need the D.

by jetskijoe on Oct 18, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

I am nervous that next weeks game is a night game.

That environment will be a HUGE test for the lions. They can win, but it is going to take everything they’ve got.

by Lovethosefreakinnittanylions on Oct 18, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

We just cant take the first half off like tonight

You find out life's this game of inches. And so is football.

by BleedingBlue4Psu on Oct 18, 2008 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions

But...

we beat oregon state, and oregon state beat usc… and usc beat osu… so havent we already beat osu once?

by BleedingBlue4Psu on Oct 18, 2008 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions

True.

That sounds about right to me. Going for 2-0 against Ohio State next week!

And I also like our record in night games and “hostile environments” so far this year. I’m not predicting a win, but I think our team will show up.

Dear Penn State Players/Coaches/Athletic Peoples of Importance

Great game tonight. Lots of fun to watch, and it really showed what this team is capable of at all aspects of the game. And it’s great to finally kick this losing-to-Michigan habit we’ve been fighting to kick – obviously, the patch and the gum weren’t as useful as the commercials intend.

Still, I have a request. Next time we are a huge favorite, please inform us that you will be spotting the opposing team 10 points and a quarter before we start to play. It would save many of us, both young and old, a trip or two to the emergency room.

Many thanks! And as always – go State!

My only concern is.......

that we haven’t and probably won’t face a “real” QB until our bowl game.

by ech2os on Oct 18, 2008 8:02 PM EDT reply actions

On a lesser note...

Does anyone know at what point last season they decided to make the Indiana-Illinois game an 8pm kickoff? I can’t believe that there was any point during this season where someone thought that would actually be a marque matchup.

by IcersGuy on Oct 18, 2008 8:03 PM EDT reply actions

Aha

That would explain it (along with my lack of BTN, because I’m cheap).

Still, I think there’d be something more intriguing to be showing right now. Let’s say, women’s volleyball?

by IcersGuy on Oct 18, 2008 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, PSU Women's Volleyball!

They look hot in those uniforms and they are 18-0! They haven’t lost a single set yet this year and that is coming off their national championship last year where they only had one loss.

by Lovethosefreakinnittanylions on Oct 18, 2008 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually...

They’re 20-0 (after tonight’s win over Ohio State), and haven’t lost a single set all season. And there is that whole thing about it being easy on the eyes – can’t go wrong with hot and talented.

One of these days, I’ll actually put that WVB Booster Club membership to use.

Whew

I invited my best friend (scUM fan) over for the game. First quarter I was thinking that I hated God’s sense of humor. But unlike in years past, this team came back and won. This is a special team with special kids. I haven’t seen (IMO) a complete team like this since 94. Maybe JoePa has one more in him!

Between the Phillies in the WS, Penn State destroying scUM, and the homemade cheesesteaks we had…I could DIE HAPPY tonight!
