Oklahoma State is too high, as is Texas Tech

OSU should be in the top 10. Other than that I dig this top 25.

I feel the game this week is looming like a storm cloud. And as much as I know this team is the best in a long time and this is the “worst” Buckeye team in while I still will be quaking in my boots until the game is in hand.

OK State and TT

Why are they too high?

by BSD on Oct 19, 2008 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'd agree with TT being too high

…except they’re undefeated for the time being. Until they get exposed, they’re fine where they are.

I believe.......

note……not a thought…….that we are a better team than Alabama and Oklahoma State……the jury is still out for me on Oklahoma and Florida…….but I believe USC and Texas would probably take care of us.

I agree

Just curious, could someone make a poll of who, assuming we run the table, would pefer to play, assuming we are voted into one, in a national championship game. I’d be curious to see what people think. Despite downing multiple cups of Kool-aid, I think we would struggle against USC or Texas, but I think Bama would be a good game, and I’m iffy on OU. Then again, I was expecting to get crushed by Tenn. two years ago, and look what happened.

but they're from the OMG best conference EVAR SEC!!!!

I think I would rather play Eastern Michigan or Florida Atlantic or something in the National Championship game, you know…if I got to vote on it. (honestly I wouldn’t want to play someone “easy” and have the title cheapened that way. I say bring on the best and let our best beat them!)

The BCS computer polls has us as #7

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/BCSStandings?week=1

Certainly doesn’t help us get to the #1 spot… In 2005 the computer polls were pushing us up.

You find out life's this game of inches. And so is football.

This week

We are below OSU in all but 1 computer poll. If we beat them, we will move up and be just fine.

Mizzou

WAY too high as a 2-loss team. Daniel hasn’t looked nearly as good against quality competition, they don’t play defense, and their best win (Illinois) suddenly isn’t looking quite as quality anymore. I’d have them in the 20’s, but that’s just me.

Also, how did USF move up 12 spots for beating Syracuse? Shouldn’t they be below Pitt as well?

Mizzou

Yeah, but their two losses were to top ten teams. Doesn’t that count for something?

by BSD on Oct 20, 2008 12:01 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dunno

I’m on the fence about them. Maybe it’s because I feel that the B12 is getting the same treatment as the SEC the past few years, in that “anybody can beat anybody but they’re all still great.” Their two losses were to tough teams, sure, but one can also look at it as they’ve now had two chances to prove themselves and failed each time. I guess I just think 8 games into the season is beyond the point of ranking by “benefit of the doubt.”

But hey, that’s just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions…

Also

The final score of the UT game is really no reflection of how thoroughly dominated they were, falling behind 28-0 to start the game. That game was never really in doubt, but then as you said, UT is the best team in the country right now.

Off the chart?

Yes – I know BYU got their ass kicked – but did they have to fall all fhe way off the chart? So sad… What the hell were they doing (or NOT doing) out there… Sigh…

If you look back on how their schedule has performed

They really don’t have one single quality win and the TCU loss was no fluke. When you look at what it took for them to get past Washington also…I know it’s a double standard but a team like BYU needs to really impress against a quality BCS squad to overcome a loss to a non-BCS team. They haven’t done that.

ACC Schools

Can’t we all just agree to leave them out of the top 25?

ACC = FAIL
