To start to criticize us after shutting down the Buckeyes and passing all of our "tests" so far.

Someone send this to the team and they will probably go out and put up over 100 in their next 3 games.

couple things

1. we are not ohio state, our coach is not jimmy tressel, we do not choke in big games. people like this guy don’t want to admit that.
2. when the big ten is down and out, it’s going to take a big stage for someone to restore the conference’s image — psu in a national championship can do that. until our conference proves otherwise, that perception won’t change.
3. from the outside looking in, i can actually understand where this mindset comes from: ohio state has ruined the biggest game of the year two years in a row. they played like crap, they bored audiences to death, and made the national championship game just another lopsided blowout.

i love this article, i’m going to save it for posterity. Penn state is the perennial underdog. we have never gotten the national respect we deserve — and that makes us a better team. i hope people continue to count us out, because as we saw in ’86 it makes for some pretty dramatic football.

I just woke up and I'm cranky

and this was the first article I read (from yahoo, not from here)

This writer makes me sick and I am going to email this POS.

“It’s foolish to think a Big Ten team has any business on college football’s biggest stage.”

screw this Big 12 loving jerk. I’m appalled right now. I have never been so mad about an article that didn’t talk about gw bush.

"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."

how lazy is this guy?

"The Big Ten’s best non-conference win was Wisconsin’s 13-10 triumph over Fresno State. "

he should be fired immediately

I agree with him, he just didn't go far enough...

If you look at what Oklahoma has done in recent BCS games, it’s obvious that no Big 12 deserves to play for the title. If you look at how we beat Florida State three years ago in the bowl game & Miami in the Fiesta in ‘86, it’s obvious that no Big East or ACC teams deserves to play for the title. If you look at what happened to USC agaist Texas, no Pacific 10 team should play for the title. If you look at what we did to Georgia in the ’83 Sugar Bowl, you know that no SEC teams deserves to play for the title. I hope everybody enjoys the title game between Utah & Ball State.

Yes, I am kidding about this. :)

My girlfriend and I commonly refer to Ball State and Balls’n’Taint.

And yes, she is hot.

here's what I wrote to this moron

I am writing to you as a PSU alumni who was appalled by the article you wrote on 10/25/08.

I believe you are a mean spirited jerk because of this comment:

“this team – and this conference – doesn’t deserve another chance at college football’s biggest prize. Besides, Paterno is used to fashioning an unbeaten team, then getting left out of the championship party. That has happened four times: 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1994.”

Forget about how you are generalizing about our current performance based on a conference rival’s past performances that are irrelevant. To be that cavalier about the Nittany Lions and their fans being left out of 4 national titles or title games they earned a chance to compete for makes me sick. What did PSU ever do to you? What did this fine university do to you to deserve such venom? Screw you man.

I also believe you are lazy.

“The Big Ten’s best non-conference win was Wisconsin’s 13-10 triumph over Fresno State.”

I wonder whether you are serious or if you don’t realize PSU DESTROYED the other OSU at home this year. If you think that’s not better than Fresno State, you’re not lazy, you’re an idiot.

I enjoyed insulting you, just like you must have enjoyed insulting my alma mater when you wrote that trash of yours on Sunday.
