Colin puts us at No. 1
imagine my happiness when I'm driving to the bank listening to the Herd and Colin puts us at No. 1 in the nation. say what you will about Colin (i'm iffy about him except for his undeniable love of college football, which I share) but he impressed me, especially by putting us ahead Texas based on a win against a "desperate" Ohio State team and the fact the Horns do not have a signature road W (c'mon Mike Leach, prove him right). after listening to the talking heads crap on us and the conference (Dienhart - i'm looking at you, you yellow journalist, William Randolph Hearst would be proud) that was just the infusion I needed. Upward and Onward

Great, Colin is the man. Amanda must have persuaded him.
I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?

Amanda could persuade me, as well!

The same Colin
who called our game “unwatchable” for the first 3 quarters? Guy jumps on more bandwagons then Mark May…..

Not so fast
He said we were a darkhorse national title contender… on September 18th. That’s before the Temple game.

I was shocked at the time, but for all his faults he has been pretty positive about our program all season.

Yes
I know what he said then. And today he both called our game unwatchable and boring but we are the best team in the country? He is a flip flopper and a bandwagon jumper.

Boring
doesn’t necessarily mean bad. Colin seems like a smart guy, maybe smart enough to realize that boring football can be the best type of football there is (2000 Baltimore Ravens).
I totally agree about Colin in general though. He seems to say whatever he has to say to get some kind of controversy brewing.

Hate them all...
Shrutebag Cowherd, Pitt homer Mark May, the ever desperate to be cool Scott Van ’Peezy".
And quite frankly Shrutebag is an idiot to say PSU should be #1. This is the kind of crap Cowherd pulls to ignite reaction from listeners.
I love this Penn State team, but you’re going to put them ahead of 2 undefeated squads from the Big 12 and the ACC?
Thats just silly.
Alabama has a signature road win against Georgia. (if thats what he wants to use as his criteria)
Texas while not having won on the road has a neutral site against #4 (then #1), and back-to-back-to-back wins over ranked opponents. I’d love nothing more than for that streak to end this weekend, but until it does, Texas isn’t a #2 to anybody.

I agree
I love the lions, but I’d have to put them at #3 myself. Even if we started out ranked ahead of Texas & ’Bama, I probably would have jumped them over us after some of their games.
As much as I hate their bragging, the SEC & Big 12 are better overall conferences this year than the Big 10. That doesn’t necessarily mean that their best teams are better than our best teams, but it does make their wins more impressive.

you mean the SEC....
i actually agree with part of what you say…Texas has the best resume now. does that make them better than Penn State….no. that can only be decided if both are undefeated and play in the National Title. I think you need to reevaluate your view of Bama, though. If you check the all important strength of schedule you will find both PSU and the Tide in the mid-70’s. Penn State’s win at OSU, during Homecoming at the largest ever crowd at the Shoe, against a “dangerous, new-look OSU team” that did not resemble it’s Coliseum incarnation at all, is worth more than Bama’s was Between the Hedges. Georgia’s win against a VASTLY overrated LSU program was a good one, other than that what have they honestly done? Their out of conference GOY means nothing…ASU tanked the season. When Georgia meets a quality program in the BCS, they will be exposed. Florida is going to win the SEC anyway, so all of this just a moot point. But I believe PSU should be no. 2, even though they’re the best, deepest (with apologies to the Men of Troy) and most well-rounded football team in the nation.

top 3
Texas
PSU
Bama
Oklahoma
Florida
Texas is the best team in the country with the best resume and in the best conference.
PSU is the most balanced team in the country and can win a game with either offense, defense or special teams and has proven that this year.
Bama is young and very talented, however, they are a little inconsistent. I think they lose multiple games this year.
OU has the best offense in the nation, but lacks a D. Their offense will keep them in any game they play.
Florida has Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin, but that is it. Their D is good, but seems to give up a lot of big plays. They have a great special teams.
Texas vs. PSU in the National Championship with PSU pulling the “upset.”

as far as the boring game comment goes
i agree with him. For myself, it was the most exciting game of the year. But if you didnt have anything invested emotionally, it probably would have been boring. There were no flashy offensive plays, there was minimal scoring…so unless you really cared, a 13-6 game isnt that exciting.

Thats the problem with perception
Why does exciting have to equal 52-42? We already have a name for that, and its called the WAC. Its not really football, but its something that had to be done in certain situations to drum up interest in otherwise nationally uninteresting programs. The same goes for the Big XII this year, and you could see it coming. As a whole, teams were struggling to garner interest and nationall attention, so they switched things up to something that would get more than the locals excited. It involves playing with no defense and all offense. Problem for those teams is that outside of the conference, and live defense can still stop what they are doing. Once they realize they just won’t be able to outscore a team, they’re cooked. Why do you think Texas Tech schedules arguably the worst non-conference slate possible? They don’t even come close to playing a real game. At least Oregon State is an organized football team.
I hope we play Texas in the MNC. We would hang 50 on them and dare them to match it. Once McCoy got hit a few times (for the first time all year), who knows what he would be thinking. Douchebag Dodd said in his article yesterday that our gameplan would get laughed out of a Texas Tech huddle. Because there’s no way we could hang with them. Because if they can put up 63 on a 1-AA team, that obviously means they can put up 63 on anybody and everybody. We’d be up 28-0 on them before they knew what happened. What an idiot. I could go on, but I don’t want to piss myself off this morning.
