Blogpoll Week 7 Draft Ballot
This week was pretty tame compared to last week when half the top ten teams all lost. So you don't see much movement at the top this week. Anyway, here is the ballot for this week. (UPDATE: Ballot edited to switch Missouri and Penn State.)

Movin' On Up
Nobody, really. Like I said, everyone in the top ten held serve with the exception of South Florida who lost to Pitt. Vanderbilt makes the nicest jump by moving up seven spots after their win over Auburn. Michigan State also moves up six spots. They got a nice little team there that can dominate the running game.
Movin' On Down
Wisconsin drops six spots after blowing another fourth quarter lead. Every year the pollsters rank the Badgers in the top ten to start the season. And every year they disappoint us. As a Penn State fan I'm not thrilled about going into Madison to play a team on a two game losing streak. There are few things nastier than a wounded Badger.
Be Gone With You
So long ,Auburn. Your wins are ugly and your losses are uglier. You are off my poll until you show me something. A win over Alabama would be nice.
Beat it, South Florida. I was never a believer to begin with. There was only one game on your schedule I actually wanted you to win, and you blew it. Thanks.
Get lost, Oregon. Nobody blames you for losing to USC, but I didn't think you would pull an Ohio State on us.
Welcome to the Dance
Oklahoma State debuts at #20 because they are undefeated and I had to add a few teams after dropping five off my poll.
Welcome back, Wake Forest. Perhaps I was too harsh in banishing you after your loss to Navy. You get a five slot gift for sitting home during the bye week. No hard feelings?
Pitt....Pardon me while I throw up in my mouth.
North Carolina is looking like a dark horse to win the ACC all the sudden.
California...eh, we'll see how that goes.

Missouri?
Personally, I don’t see how we were able to hop over Missouri as they went over to Nebraska and clobbered them. Nebraska is decent this year.

I will back that up...

I agree
I’m definitely a homer, and in my “personal” poll Penn State is #1, even if we went 0-12 ;-) but for purposes of actually ranking teams, I would have to place Mizzou ahead of PSU right now. They’ll get their chance to fall soon enough (as will we…hopefully we decline the offer, though, and continue to dominate).

You're correct
I thought I changed that after I submitted my ballot and looked back on it. I’ll fix it.

I can’t see us ahead of Missouri yet. They went into a very hostile environment and just dismantled Nebraska. We went to Purdue and just, well, just played a simple, unimpressive game. Not that it’s a bad thing.
I really wanted to throw up watching the Vandy-Auburn game Saturday. That was truly one of the most overhyped and boring games of football I’ve ever suffered through (6-4 Iowa game comes to mind). You can’t tell me Auburn (and vicariously, LSU or Vanderbilt) is a strong defensive team. I just don’t see it. That game Saturday was a pillowfight between two mediocre offenses. That game was like watching old people try to procreate.
…and if I hear one more S-E-C chant on College Gameday, I’m going to personally drive to that school and crap right on the 50 yard line of the offending school.

Get ready to do just that
You know full well that there will be another GameDay held in SEC land. In that scenario, there’s a 99.99% chance of an ess-eee-see chant. Even if they don’t head to another SEC school, the odds are pretty good that some moronic group of SEC fans will make their presence felt, at, I don’t know, a Big XII game.
Anyone think GameDay will be in Madison this week? Probably not, with Texas-Oklahoma being such a big game this week. But based on recent history, they’ve traveled to a venue where the game was on ESPN (UT-OU is on ABC/PSU-Wisky is on ESPN) and had a late start (UT-OU is at high noon/PSU-Wisky at 8p). Not that any of that matters, nor does it really matter if GameDay goes to Wisconsin, just wonderin…

Gameday
With Wisconsin unranked, I would be very surprised to see them there this week.

My two cents
Flip flopping Penn State and Missouri was a straight up homer move.

Agreed
I just don’t see it, but maybe a case can be made for our D being better than Missouri’s since we held Purdue to half their usual yardage? I don’t know, I’m grasping at straws trying to figure out the rationale.

Bama should have stayed at 2...
Or possibly move down to 3 due to their sloppy game against Kentcuky. Penn State seems too high, I really like them at 6 which is where they are in the polls. Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Mizzou, and Texas are all superior to the Nittany Lions as of now. If Penn State can go 3-0 these next 3 weeks then we’ll have something to talk about.

if we go 3-0 the next three weeks
i’ll be more excited than just thinking about being #1/2 in the polls.

I don't see a problem
You guys are looking at it as a one week thing. Yeah, he had Mizzou ahead of us last week, but honestly…was that deserved? We each beat Illinios, albeit in different fashions, but I would compare Oregon State’s resume favorably to Nebraska’s. Nebraska is NOT wildly improved…they’ve beaten 3 scrub teams, and lost twice at home to a slightly down VT team and to Mizzou, which was a downright spanking. Two losses without even playing a road game yet…sorry, not impressed at all. Honestly, I think Purdue might be better than they are at this point.
So judging solely by the results of this past week, is it odd to see the flip? Maybe. But since it’s still early on, I see no problem with us being ahead of Mizzou at this point, given the sample size.

Maybe
he dropped Mizzou because they blatantly ran up the score at the end of the game while leaving Daniels in the game?
by whiteoutonly on Oct 6, 2008 12:45 PM EDT 0 recs
Mizzou Ran up the score?
Three things:
1. Mizzou scored 52 points in three quarters, and let the 2nd team (and eventually 3rd team) offense and defense play the fourth. In the history of the Mizzou-Nebraska game here are some selected final scores from Nebraska victories: 62-0, 50-7, 69-21, 63-6, 57-0, 51-7. So it can be argued two ways: 1. an opponent’st task is to stop the other team, thus negating the entire premise of “running up the score” , or 2. For Nebraska, karma turned out to be a bitch.
2. Penn St. opened the season with a 66-10 victory over a FCS team that has since lost to Colgate and Liberty.
3. There is no “s” on the end of his last name. It’s Daniel.
Even as a Purdue alum my mind is boggled as to how a 14 point victory in Ross-Ade merits leap-frogging a 35 (really 42) point victory in Memorial.

as a koolaid powder snorter
i don’t know how PSU jumps Missou. Also, Alabama should’ve, could’ve, would’ve lost to kentucky while OU is murdering everyone on their schedule, yet they are no.2. if they beat texas, you’ve gotta think about correcting this.

Pitt vs. Georgia Tech
Can you honestly say Pitt is the better team? ;)
I might be a homer for saying it, but I really don’t feel as though Tech is getting enough respect.
by hasuprotoss on Oct 6, 2008 11:04 PM EDT 0 recs
Well
Pitt has beaten Iowa and South Florida. Maybe Tech belongs in there too, but Pitt has some impressive wins.

wisconsin is still a good team
so what if they lost a few, plug them in at 5 and drop us to 6, then this weekend is all good.
I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?
