2011 Recruiting News - Take Two
OK - my last post on these guys (RB Maika Polamalu and QB Terrell Chestnut) got derailed quickly. Thus, allow me to state this proactively: studying abroad can indeed be hot. Really.
Now to the point. As I mentioned before, two young players for our 2011 recruiting class (they're HS sophs- I did the math for ya) attend a local high school. Below is a link giving a nice recap of their school's season to date, with QB Chestnut featured prominently. Chestnut, by the way, was a First Team All-State defensive back as a FRESHMAN last year. Class AAAA, too. That, folks, is a way big deal.

Is Chestnut a future Pryor in the making? Let's check some stats.
First, RB Maika Polamalu:
Carries = 67 Yards = 456 YPC = 6.8
Now our man Chestnut:
Carries = 80 Yards = 757 YPC = 9.5 (eek!)
Unfortunately, I don't have any passing stats for him yet, but I'll post them when I do.
These guys will be making lots of noise around here for the next few years, and I'll make sure you folks can listen in.

Maybe i'm in the minority here...
but are we in the middle of a 6-0 season and in the midst of witnessing something very special, and even the last year of a coaching legend?
Who cares about recruiting of High School Sophmores right now?

Always like the recruiting trail...
I sure wish we would get some of these guys to sign early like tOSU and everybody else does. We have been pulling some nice talent but man it seems like we have to work hard for em and late into the season, as well.

Polamalu
I don’t care how good he is, if he’s related to the Tasmanian devil, let’s get him

Sean Stanley
His high school is playing mine tomorrow night. I know my school is going to lose cause we’ve only won 4 games in three seasons, but it will be fun to watch Stanley play though.

I'm beginning to realize
sometimes, it’s best to post and run.

I disagree, there, Mr. Streak
A post is like a little seedling you’ve planted. It needs you to come back and nurture it and watch it grow. It needs your help to keep the sideways-slanting blogistani mobsters from effing it up and trampling it. Stay with it, brother.
I AM legitimately interested in these two recruits, so there’s that.

Well,
seeing as I get things going sideways as much as anyone, I enjoy watching it happen. We ARE a varied group here.
These two guys play tonight. I’ll use this thread to post a report tomorrow.

Sean Stanley Update
So his school won 31-6. I didn’t get to watch that much because I had to play with our band, but there was one play where it looked like our running back would go all the way, and Stanley chased him down after being 10 yards behind, which was a dilemma for me since I wanted our team to score, but it bodes well for Penn State’s D-line in the future. And I think their pep band was preparing him to play at PSU because they played Hey Baby at the end of the third quarter.(not sure of the actual name).

Think big picture.
If YOU’RE school has to get their asses kicked so the rest of us here feel good about Stanley, just consider it as taking one for the (PSU) team. We appreciate it.
Besides, I’m sure your band kicked their band’s ass. (This from a guy that played mellophone in marching bands for 6 years, so I know of which I speak.)
Thanks for the update, and keep ’em coming.
BTW – ‘Grape Napalm’? That, indeed, sounds hot. Scorching hot.

Our Band Does Kick Ass
Last year we went to the Gator Bowl and four years ago they went to the Sugar Bowl. I’m just glad I didn’t play this year because I would have been the one who would have had to block Stanley. I played on JV the past two years, but I had to choose football or band this year. I realized that a leadership position on one of the state’s best bands would look better for college than four years on a losing football team.

Good luck to you
A tough call to be sure but I wish you the best of luck. Not easy making a decision like and I am sure glad I never had to
