Radio
Does anyone know if the radio broadcast is on with the TV broadcast? Or does it lag badly. I as because I really don't want to listen to Mike Patrick this Saturday, all due respect to Todd Blacklidge. I would much prefer to hear Steve and Jack.
p.s. did anyone notice how badly done last weekends game was by ESPN? I mean we all know Andre Ware and that other guy hate on PSU all the time anyway. But they hardly ever talked about the game. And I swear the cameras missed like at least 8 plays because they were focused on the sidelines or the fans or something. I just thought it was poorly done. At least when Pam Ward and whats his face (the old LB from OSU) do the game, they talk about the game.

Yes
The announcers were horrible. And the producer back in the trailer was worse in determining which cameras to go to. In between every play they were showing people in the stands, or Joe in the booth, or coaches on the sideline, or talking to the sideline reporter. Then they would come back to the action just as the play was snapped or even right after on several occassions. When you’re running a blog and trying to dissect formations and substitutions and coverages it’s very frustrating.

It was like they decided Penn State was going to win before the game, then just talked about the national title picture, and which team needed Andre Ware to play for them more.

I could just see the pregame breakfast
Announcer 1: Man this game is going to suck. Where do we go next week?
Announcer 2: I think Northwestern.
Announcer 1: F*CK
Announcer 2: I know. What can we talk about today after the game gets out of hand in the second quarter?
Announcer 1: Hmmm…Joe is old. There’s something.
Announcer 2: Yeah, that’s good stuff. How about Joe Tiller? He’s retiring ya know.
Announcer 1: Yeah yeah. Then we can talk about his successor.
Announcer 2: Did you notice he has a mustache just like Tiller?
Announcer 1: What’s up with that?

Freakiest graphic ever
The side-by-side of Tiller and his strangely identical successor, who I believe should be called “Tiller 2000”.
Was Ware one of the announcers for the PSU-Indiana game last year? That was horrible in that they spent the entire time talking about Indiana football. I remember the beginning of one big IU play was missed because the sideline reporter was talking to the AD. I believe that AD has been canned or arrested or something. Commentary like that makes we wish Major Harris won the damned ’89 Heisman.

Yep
And the Purdue game. Which was more painful? James Hardy making our secondary look like a JV squad, or having to listen to Ware describing Hardy making our secondary look like a JV squad?
He kept screwing up words during the Purdue game.
Indentation becomes indention. Sigh, what an idiot.

There is nothing wrong with a nice moustache, You just have to wear it right

I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?

I had to laugh when Andre Ware, noted rocket scientist and brain surgeon, actually uttered this phrase in the 4th quarter:
“You know, if Purdue can score here, they’ll only be down two scores.”
I mean, I guess he was trying to keep people interested. I hope he wasn’t suggesting that the outcome of the game hung in the balance. I really, really hope Dr. Ware wasn’t just demonstrating his fierce math skills on national tv.

Yeah, nice broadcast indeed
I was getting pissed as they kept talking about total garbage (mustache mania, etc) and you could almost feel them begging for Purdue to get back into the game. I am still so pissed we kept slipping and falling down as I would have loved to put an ass-whipping on those guys so they would have had no choice but to give Royster and co. more love for tearing that run defense apart.

You have a DVR or TIVO?
I paused my DVR and managed to synch it. Ah, it was so awesome not having to listen to those clowns.

you, my friend
just gave me the final reason to buy a Tivo. I’ve wanted one for a while, but couldn’t ever FULLY justify it. But not having to listen to TV announcers = priceless

Gonna try that next time we get that dream team on air… or the other dream team of Pam and co, for that matter

Obviously, you gotta play it by ear
There’s no real specific time length to pause, I don’t think. It’s a pain in the butt, but totally worth it.

I think it depends on the game, by the way
And maybe the channel too. The radio was ahead during the Oregon State game, so I had to listen to Brian Griese’s Dad. It’s worth a shot this week since the game’s on ESPN again.

now just to figure out
how to set a personal “delay” on the radio. Probably not too hard if I actually had the equipment.

Heh
I’ll have to look into that myself. This could be the dawning of a new era, my friends. Imagine a world where we can see Pam Ward… but we can’t hear her! Huzzah!

Sorry
Her voice has fused into the deepest furrows of my brain. I can’t shake it. Ever.

The 2004 MSU game
She got so excited about Drew Stanton’s scrambling ability, I thought she was going to have an on-air orgasm. Not even mind bleach has gotten rid of that thought.

Other commentary...
The voices in my head generally do a good job of keeping track of the game but getting them to synch and stay in the same language is a pain in the ass so we… errrr…. I mean, I know what you mean
:::those M*r*lli years had quite an effect on me….:::
