Basketball Recruiting
This story seems to have fallen through the cracks today.
Texas point guard Tim Frazier has signed with Penn State.
The Lions hope Frazier can fill the void left by Stanley Pringle after this season.
The 6-2, 160-pound guard out of Strake Jesuit High School in Houston was ranked No. 13 among point-guards in the class of 2009 by ESPN and given an overall grade of 89, which ranks among the top 115, 2009 prospects ranked nationally by ESPN. He was rated a three star recruit by the Rivals national recruiting service.
Looks like a real nice pick up for the basketball team. If theres one thing I've noticed, its that we're getting players from all over the country, rather than just the Northeast, and I consider that a very good thing. I like the direction Ed is taking this program in, and this looks like another positive step.

Not that I bleieve in stars or rankings
But it’s nice to see Ed pulling in guys who are more sure-things than having to find diamonds in the rough all the time. While we’re still waiting for substantial improvement on the court, the improvement in recruiting bodes well for the future.
I’m still willing to give ED a few more years. Hopefully they can get the facilities up to snuff as well.

BJC
They just redid the basketball offices there. I think there wasn’t enough space, and they didn’t have a specific film room.

They were terrible
The coaches all shared an office about the size of a hospital room, and it came complete with the cinder block walls painted white to boot. The locker room in my high school looked better than our player’s locker room. There was no practice facility at all. It was not the kind of place any big time recruit would want to come to play.
They’ve done a lot since Ed came in. They pick one project a year he says and they run with it. They’ve added a practice facility, redone the player’s locker room, added a player lounge, renovated the coaches offices, and added a film room. We’re not on par with the Michigan State’s and Purdue’s yet, but we’re getting there.

Ed's future
I think the key for Ed is to just keep showing steady progress. This has really been a ground-up rebuilding process from the beginning. It takes a special person willing to stay loyal to the program and take their lumps to come in and do what he did. I think the University is going to reward that loyalty by sticking with him as long as he can keep it moving forward. He just has to keep winning three or four more games than he won the year before and keep bringing in better recruits and the administration will keep supporting him.
