I finally get this channel. Awesome. I can finally be a real PSU hoops fan again.

Switching to DirecTV
was one of the best decisions I have made. However, I do live in SoCal, so weather isn’t really a problem. Time Warner absolutely sucked out here. Our cable would regulary go out during the 5pm to 11pm time period on weekday nights. They did say they would refund me the cost for the time it was out though…I only had to stay on hold for 40 minutes to get my $0.45 refund and then do it again if I wanted money back for my internet.
Conclusion: Me no likey Time Warner.

Can't go tonight
I’m not too worried about this game. I’ll be there on Thursday thought for Hartford. Brooks should be back and hopefully he gets into the swing of things.

They're from Jersey
and they are the worst team in college basketball! I’m not sure which is worse… Anyways, this should be the worst drubbing of the year. PSU 94 NJIT 50

I forget
did NJIT wind up winning a game last year or not? I remember late in the season there was talk about them going winless.

lol
so I did a little research and came across this article
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/6989646/
which points out Savannah St. going winless in 2005, and being only the second team in the past 50 years to go winless. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that NJIT was just the third team.
Anyway, what I found funny was this line:
Southern Mississippi went 0-24 in 1971-72, but that was one of three seasons that it had been stripped of Division I status because the NCAA objected to its weak schedule.
So you’re saying that they went winless…and had such a weak schedule that they were stripped of Division 1 status? Priceless! (Though I’m gonna guess that they ramped up the toughness of their schedule, hence leading to the abysmal record…still funny, though)

ha!
my dad went to college there in the 80’s. I don’t think they even had sports back then. You went there to become a nerd (engineer, scientist, etc.)

so true...
He still is in touch with his frat brothers (computer science and ME’s) and the definitely all rocked a mullet in that awkward late 80’s early 90’s time.

A little too three-happy
It seems we’re content with kicking the ball into the paint and then swinging it back out to the perimeter for a three-point shot. We need to convert a few more easy inside baskets and we should start to blow this game open.
NJIT’s shooting has also gone colder than the Ice Miser’s lair

My buddy Hank...
was looking to transfer there from PSU (forget what major he wanted that was better at NJIT). He parked his car in front of admissions, and in the few minutes he was inside – it was stolen. Newark is lovely this time of year.

This seems like an early open thread, oh well.

Ewwww
Not impressed by the performance tonight.
-Free Throws? 13-24, or 54%. To be fair, most of that can be traced to Andrew Jones going 4-10 from the stripe.
-Not much going on inside tonight, which is scary considering who the opponent was.
-Waaaay too many turnovers. I don’t have the exact number, but it was pretty bad.
-NJIT shot 26%. Yeah, they suck, but I’d like to think we were d-ing it up pretty well tonight.
-Jackson looked pretty good tonight, as well as Battle.

Refs
Called every foul. EVERYTHING. If they weren’t sure and it looked like a foul, they called it. Almost every possession in the first half they stopped the clock for something. Turned into the longest beatdown I’ve ever seen. Plus we did have a few silly turnovers.
One thing I didn’t like was Cornley not taking advantage of their big man, but they were all over him as soon as he got the ball inside so I can’t blame him.

Alright...making progress.
I think there were like 4 comments on the last thread. I’m looking forward to a game thread I can actually sit in on. I need to make the over-priced comcast sports package worth it.

Yeah
It’s tough for me to make these open threads on week nights. I’m an hour behind, so when the game starts at 7 PM I’m just getting home from work at 6 PM Houston time. So we rush to cook dinner, feed the kids, and clean up. And then we put the kids to bed which takes about an hour so it’s sometimes 8:30 until I get a minute to myself to fire up the laptop. By then the game is just about over. So I’ve been watching the games on DVR so far. But I’m looking forward to Saturday and Sunday afternoon game threads which I should be able to participate in.

I dunno...
I think you can view the lack of comments as a referendum on the Athletic Department’s decision to schedule one of the weakest non-con schedules of the major conference schools. Winning’s nice, but it’s hard to get excited for a game featuring a team coming off one of the worst seasons of all time. It feeds that second-rate status floating through the basketball program at PSU.

In fairness
with respect to this game against NJIT, this is part of the Philly Hoops Classic which will wrap up in Philly in a few weeks. The tournament assigned us these games against NJIT and Hartford. We had no control over that. But there are plenty of other dogs on this schedule to get upset about.
If we luck out we may get a game against Villanova out of this Philly Classic deal.
