At First Glance...
OK. I have to admit...at first glance I was about to slide down a bannister made of razor blades into a pool of lemon juice when I saw that we were #3 in the BCS rankings. I saw shades of 1994 when we were #1 in the country, BEAT Indiana but - since we gave up some cheap scores near the end of the game - the writers (damn them) dropped us from the top ranking thereby screwing us in the "old" system out of a National Championship.
Upon further review, I decided to skip sure disaster and think about this a bit. The way I see it, we're probably better off lurking in the shadows at #3. We basically control our own destiny and really need to take care of business. No more close games...no more "unimpressive" victories. Even though it shouldn't factor into the equation, we need to show the coaches voting in the USA Today poll that we do in fact belong in the upper echelon. I'm really tired of a$$holes like Barry Switzer (who was on Fox's OT as their college FB "expert"...what a crock) stating that there are probably "5-6 teams ranked below Penn State..." that are better teams. He also claims that there are much better QB's than the one we have. So much for media bias...again...a Big XII guy breaking down the BCS after a Big XII key matchup. Hmmm....
I've said this before to others. The Big XII is fun to watch...they score a lot of points...they throw the ball all over the field. But...NONE OF THEM PLAY ANY DEFENSE!!! I really feel that if we played one of those teams in a bowl game, our defense would be the stiffest challenge that team had faced all season. We are the most balanced team in the nation and we won't beat ourselves with stupidity (unless of course we have suspensions due to various off-field issues but I think that trend may be over).
Maybe this is simply a rant that makes no sense but I felt like it had to be written.
Go State...Beat the Nation...
Prove all the doubters wrong...
May no act of our bring shame...
Success with honor...
For the Glory...

I really, really wish they had beaten the Zookers, though
They would be ranked and all pumped up to have the No. 3 team in their stadium.
And then we squash them. Like a bug.
Stupid Zook.

Switzer
Was an idiot on TV. I wanted to choke him. Who gives Terry Bradshaw and Jimmie Johnson an opportunity to comment on college football rankings? FOX, you are dumb. I have nothing else to say about that.
And I agree with you that I actually don’t mind sitting in #3 right now (keep the team focused), but I believe that by definition, we do not control our own destiny.
Yeah he's a jackass
Fox in general sucks, and they really have no place owning the rights to the BCS, etc. I can’t wait until their contract is up and we can get some real media (I’ll take biased over retarded) back into the picture.
Check Out ESPN's Analysis. . .
Of interest:
"What should be more concerning to Penn State fans is that Texas, even with a loss, is ranked ahead of the Nittany Lions in the computers. And if Florida wins out, there’s a good chance the Gators will be, too.
So if either Alabama or Texas Tech loses before Dec. 7, and the other stays unbeaten, Penn State isn’t necessarily a lock to finish No. 2 in the BCS. This week is proof that a narrow lead in both polls isn’t always enough to hold off a team that’s superior in the computers. "

"Us against the world..."
Everybody tries to create those artificial motivators or bulletin board material. Getting stiffed by teh AP is as good a motivator as any. Just take care of your busines – control the things that you can control. There’s a lot fo football left – now is not the time to allow for a stubbed toe.
Now, on the other hand, if an undefeated Penn State is locked out of the MNC in favor of a 1-loss team, that will truly be a reason for pitch-forks and torches.
Or even worse two 1-loss teams
Texas and Florida

like USC did in 2003-4

Thanks Buckeyes....
You f-cked an entire conference. Perhaps, next time, your tuba player can dot the “i” in script “ineptitude”!
No panic here
If Penn State wins out, they play for the NC. Taking care of their own business and remaining focused should be their main priority. I think State wins convincingly in the final 3 games and won’t have any worries. Bama and TT are gonna lose, the question is, when? The 1 loss teams are not gonna jump PSU after TT and Bama lose, PSU will move to #1. Stay calm and remain patient, there’s a ton of football remaining! WE ARE…
