Joe seems to have no intentions of retiring
I went to the Rally in the Valley tonight. JoePa seems adamant about being on the field next year.
He said, "When I can run out on that field, which I will do next year- run out on that field!" I've seen this story on ESPN already, but thought I'd share it from an audience member POV from tonight.
Coincidentally, I happened to get a seat next to his family (I don't know what all of his children look like aside from Jay, but they all seemed to look a lot like him, so I assumed they were family, and there were many there), including Sue. He seemed as fiery as normal at these pep rallies, but got very emotional and started to choke up when he talked about the spirit of the people and fans at Penn State. I know nothing is certain at this point, but the man truly bleeds blue and white, and he cares so deeply about this place and the people in it. I think it's going to be hard for Spanier to not give him an extension for next year after the great successes of this year, but I guess nothing is certain, but in my book, he's more than earned the right to end things his way.
At this point, I think I've seen three posts dedicated to rumors swirling about tomorrow and his potential retirement, but the man honestly convinced me tonight that he has no intention of making '08 his last year. While I didn't have a shirt like theirs, the two guys in front of me were sporting a "Joe Can't Go" T-shirts, and I couldn't agree more, at least not without it being on his own terms.

I love this
Penn State quarterback coach Jay Paterno said Thursday night that his father’s plan for Saturday night would be as follows: “He’ll go home, have an Old Grand-Dad on the rocks and watch games.”

Can they just end all this speculation already
and hand JoePa a 20 year contract? Basically say “whenever you want, Joe”
