Dang I hate the Big Ten...
I'm sitting here watching all the recaps of a great day in college football and I switch over to BTN and what do I hear...
Penn State wins a SHARE of the Big Ten...
Ohio State wins a SHARE of the Big Ten...
Seriously... I understand that we both have the same conference record but why is there NO conference tie breaker. Yes, there are a series of Rose Bowl tie breakers but why in the world should we have to share the conference title (again) with tOSU when we beat them during the season and had a better overall record than them (again).
I love my team and am very proud of the entire program though its hard not to be a bit disappointed in the way the loss played out... but I really, truly, seriously hate the Big Ten.
and everybody that buys one of those tOSU big ten champions shirts...
Sorry for the rant... just had to get it off my chest...

WTF?
Penn State beat tOSU head to head and they have to “share” the title with them? absolute bullshit. nothing else can be said.

Same situation in 2005
If I were Ohio St, I’d turn down the share of the title. It would be downright shameful and dishonorable.

Daryl Clark agrees:
“It’s very exciting,” Clark said of the Rose Bowl berth. “What’s more important is that we’re Big Ten champions. We’re not sharing anything.”

Let's be honest
In the Buckeye’s minds, they really believe they deserve a piece of the title the same way they think they did in 2005. It’s not easy for them to cope with being 2nd best.
I don’t mind most Buckeye fans really, but their sense of entitlement exemplified by this ‘sharing’ of the title drives me nuts. It’s just another way for them to look better on paper than they really are, so their homers can say something like “4 straight Big Ten titles!”.

It is bullshit
Though the records may never show it, everyone knows who is the real champs of the Big 10.
Same thing over in the Pac10. USC has won 6 “consecutive” Pac10 titles, but they have shared (I believe) 3 of them. They always have beaten the co-champs, though. This year, however, if we beat UO, we will have beaten the co-champs USC. But it will still read next year “7 consecutive Pac10 titles”
Oh well though. At least you beat tOSU. Here’s looking forward to partying with PSU in Pasadena!

Hell yeah! You guys deserve the Pac 10
after what you have been working through all year. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Quiz and Moevao!

Sharing the title...
I don’t like sharing the Big Ten Title with OSU either. :-( grrrrr. But let’s be honest. If the shoe were on the other foot we would be saying the same thing. It is what is…
This can be the start of our streak of Big Ten Titles…

I honestly don't know what I would say if it were reversed
I think in situations llke this, Penn State can claim being Big 10 champions, while O$U can claim co-Big 10 Champion, but with emphasis on the co part. I think if it were reversed, I would say “co” while this year and in 2005 I don’t.

oh and also
since Ohio isn’t a real state, then OSU can’t exist (how can you be a state university of something that isn’t a state?) therefore I would still just claim to be sole Big 10 champion :-D

Perception is reality
Technically, they are co-champs because of the stupid rules of the Big Ten that allow such a crazy thing. If the Big Ten would just rewrite the tie breaker so that the head to head would determine the champion we wouldn’t be talking about this.
But ten years from now everyone will remember it was Penn State who represented the conference in the Rose Bowl. That’s what matters in people’s minds. Ohio State’s co-championship will be a footnote in the record books. The worst thing about it is they get to claim they have four straight titles to their name, even though two of them they did not win outright because of the BIg Ten’s dumb way of handling the situation.

that last part is where it will come into play
especially if OSU can string together another couple of co-championships, since then in a few years they could be saying something like, “an unprecedented X straight Big-10 chamionships”, conveniently ignoring that they didn’t even win the conference’s BCS bid in some of those years.
