2010 Pennsylvania LB Mike Hull...

Star-divide

                                                               Sirenanimatedgw0_medium

Am I going nuts, or has there been no mention of this on here...let's get a siren up for this kid! For those that don't know, this is a huge commitment in advance and has to look good to the other '10 Pennsylvania prospects (ie QB Paul Jones, WR Alex Kenney, WR Andrew Carswell, OL Seth Betancourt, DE/LB Dakota Royer, etc.). Mike is a legit top 5 prospect in Pennsylvania for the '10 class, and surely one of the top LBs in the country. He is a legit big-time wrestler/baseball player with 4.5 speed and great instincts at the LB position. Not only all of the above, but he is also a legacy player and a potential 5*/#1 PA LB, definite 4* prospect.

[Added the siren because I hate to watch you suffer. -- RUTS]

I threw it up late on the 2nd half gameday thread

Some say he could be the #1 player in Pa next year but his ratings may come down a bit as he declared early. I know that sounds stupid, but how do you expect those recruiting mags and sites to sell subscriptions to kids who have already committed (we all know ND fans are bonkers for that crap… lol)

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

I'm getting to it

Had to do the family thing today. We still have a year and a half until his signing day, right?

by BSD on Nov 23, 2008 11:03 PM EST   0 recs

depends... if he does the TP thing

we have a little more time than that… (what an arse that guy was pulling that move)

eh, I actually don't hold that against him

in fact I wish more players would do something similar, and not make these “rushed” moves (though I guess they aren’t really rushed, since they’ve basically been recruited for a couple of years). There should be some sort of reform in the recruiting process. Wouldn’t it be nice if it was almost like speed dating where every recruit in the country puts down the teams they’d like to go to (in order from favorite to least favorite) and the schools list who they want, and then it all gets matched up based on that?

Were you in a sorority????

Because that sounds like sorority recruitment to me!

by JoePaPa on Nov 24, 2008 10:45 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

lol, well I'm a guy, so I was never a member

but let’s say I spent a fair amount of time inside sororities.

Ok, that’s a lie, I actually found a majority of sorority sisters that I knew to be rather obnoxious, and tended to avoid them.

Also, I’ve never speed-dated, but I think that’s how it works.

Also never applied to med school, but I think the process is somewhat similar.

HAH...certainly there is time

I just know how crazy PASSIONATE Penn State fans are, I couldn’t believe that it had happened prior to the MSU game and still no mention.

His “rating” by the “guru’s” could be affected because of his commitment so early, but everyone already knows the caliber of recruit that he is. He has been getting interest from all over the country since his sophomore year, next great WPIAL prospect, without question. Bob L. will probably find some Pitt recruit and get him higher but we’ll all know the truth. :)

Multi-sport star, has the size, has the speed, has the instincts, and he should be another very special Penn State legacy LB. I would say Michael Mauti and Nathan Stupar have not disappointed as ST monsters, and I’m not expecting any fall off with Michael Zordich either

I was surprised

Obviously he was getting an offer, but normally kids don’t commit til they get the offer and we don’t send them out until February. But hey this is good news. I think we’re going to have a great haul in PA.

Hull

I said this in a previous post, but I’ll say it again. Hull goes to the high school I graduated from, so i’ve got to see him play a decent bit. He’s a heck of a football player and athlete. I"m worried about his size though. Isn’t 205 6-1 a little small for linebacker? That sounds more like a safety to me.

What I am more conern about is his health. I was talking to my dad yesterday when I came home from school. He went to all of the high school games this year and he said that the coaches overworked him big time. Apparently he has somewhat severe issues with his back (and I think something with his leg too). Thus it kind of got me thinking maybe he’s just taking this scholarship and running with it to be safe?

He's been banged up this year

He’s a linebacker, though. Figure him to be 215-220 when he gets to campus, and it’s all death and destruction from that point onward.

Dude was all-conference in a quad-A conference as a freshman.

omg... that says something for that kid in 4A

I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member

I wouldn’t worry about his healthy…it is obviously pretty demanding to carry a football team on your back, be a stud wrestler as well as part of a Quad A championship baseball team. I don’t know if you’ve ever wrestled, but I’ve wrestled and played football, and with wrestling they beat the hell out of you big time. His head coach, coached at Penn State and played at Penn State under Joe, so they’re not trying to kill the kid before he gets to Penn State – I can assure you of that.

It will be interesting to see if we go after one of his good friends, Chad Hagan. I believe he is also 6’1-6’ 215 or so and could be a RB/FB type or a LB/S hybrid (Mark Rubin). I don’t think he would ever be the starting RB at Penn State but he is a pretty damn good ATH in his own right. Only concern I have there is that he went away from football as a sophomore so he could focus on BBall, and apparently it took a little bit of convincing for him to start playing football again as a junior. I got the sense that he thought he was a better BBall player, but maybe he has seen the light and will get legit 1A interest/football scholarships.

Hull

More info: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08329/930315-365.stm

He’ll be talking to Paul Jones too, since they’re both from Western PA.
He’s listed at 6-1 215
They said he’ll either play LB or safety, so even if he comes in a little small he’ll be fine
His dad used to play for PSU

thats a good article

I love how he said that he’ll try and get other recruits to follow him. It should only bode well for us.

Paul Jones

Do we really want Paul Jones? A 5.03 forty-dash strong armed pocket passer from Pittsburgh…i think we’ve been down that road before (QB14 for those of you not keeping score at home). I thought we were looking for the DC, Pat Devlin, Kevin Newsome mold..I kid that can use his legs if need be.

Don't buy the 40

If you watch his sophomore film you can see that this kid is far from Morelli. We definitely want Paul Jones.

okay then

Viva Paul Jones!
