Cuz Life's a Hustle, baby

Let's have a little fun with the open thread today. If you see a comment that makes you laugh or you think the poster makes a particularly interesting point or offers some good analysis, give the comment a recommendation. After the game we'll highlight some of them in a front page post (probably on Sunday).

Iowa team stats after the jump.

Black shirts, green shirts and snow….magical good thing we are wearing white

Ut oh

Just went to set my DVR and realized I’m not getting the game today. I know we cover this every week, but does anyone know a good website where I can get the radio feed?

by BSD on Nov 8, 2008 9:31 AM EST reply actions   1 recs

see

Texas does suck. Beyond the hurricanes, longhorns, and cowboys they don’t even show good football games.

by PSiriUs on Nov 8, 2008 9:39 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah this blows

When you look at the ESPN coverage map the entire state of Texas is getting the PSU game. Except a tiny bit of blue on the gulf coast that will have to be subjected to the craptastic Florida State-Clemson game. That’s me.

And friggin’ ESPN2 is covering the Nationwide Series.

by BSD on Nov 8, 2008 9:47 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I use these sites to listen:

I have Directv and use a program called Tversity accessed through my HR20-100 (the DVR) to sync up the audio and the game. You will need to pause the game for a few seconds to sync it, but it’s much better to listen to Steve Jones and Jack Hamm. I don’t know if that helps anyone, but if you know what I’m referring to, add these stations to the internet audio section and enjoy!

I know that you can’t just play all of these links in a browser either. I have them specifically for my setup.

Map

It looks like the same little spot is getting the PSU Iowa game on ABC HD, no?

by bmg125 on Nov 8, 2008 11:16 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I thought.

…that it would be on either ABC or ESPN, no matter where you are. The cable viewing guide may not reflect it, but I’m pretty sure it’s the case.

Then again, I’m in Harrisburg so I haven’t really looked into it.

by Run Up The Score on Nov 8, 2008 12:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Unless my TV Guide is wrong

I’m not getting it. Like I said, I did a search to find it so I could tape it and it’s not showing up. I’m getting the FSU-Clemson game on ESPN and NASCAR on ESPN2. ABC is Oklahoma-aTm.

by BSD on Nov 8, 2008 2:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nice lineup

I would call a cable guy over just to fight him

ESPN Alternate

Mike – do you have satellite? Because I have the game on DirecTV channel 210 (I’m up North in Cypress).

by cjapsu on Nov 8, 2008 3:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I have Dish Network

Unless my guide is wrong I’m not getting the game. I even did a search for all the football games and it’s not in there.

I think I found a website where I can get the radio broadcast. That’s good enough. Just means I won’t be able to do any grades this week.

by BSD on Nov 8, 2008 3:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That sucks for you, bro.

I am sure I will be frozen out next week if the game is on BTN so I feel you

I am a Bears fan as well as a Penn Stater

Imagine how my life was for the last two years watching a marginally talented white kid with a vacant look on his face go out and give up more points than our defense would with strategically placed pick 6’s or back them up to their own goal line with a fumble every damned Saturday AND Sunday. World of shit, my friends…

Gametime

Did you try ESPN360.com? You can usually get all the ESPN broadcasts on there.

Different places to get game feed

This site usually has a live video stream of the Penn State game linked. It doesn’t right now but I would check back closer to game time. I have used this site a number of times to watch games. (You can also watch today’s Bucknell game if you like)

http://channelsurfing.net/

This is the best place to get notes on radio feeds.

Weather

The one thing that has me worried. Anyone have any guesses as to how this will affect our gameplan? Is this going to be Slip N Slide part 2? Because if it is that would have me questioning this game. We clearly left some points behind at Purdue, I don’t want to see that again in what might be a dogfight. The one consoling stat I have is that Illinois sacked Stanzi 6 times. We should have nothing less than that if we want to win, and I think our guys up front can do it.

I was out in the trenches, which enables me to paint such a powerful picture, like Apocalypse Now.-Cormega

Yes

as long as you’re watching one of them. Once you have the second channel recording, you’ll be unable to change from that to a third channel.

Short answer: yes, but don’t plan on surfing.

Random non-football question.

Who ya got tonight Roy Jones Jr or Joe “the mouth” Calzaghe? I like Calzaghe against B-Hop, but since he killed on Pavlik and well B-Hop beat Pavlik (but had some words of encouragement for him) I want to see Roy Jones whip his @$$.

It's pretty simple

His runs look great against teams that can’t stop it.
His ability to break tackles looks great against teams that can’t tackle.
His deep balls/jump balls/arm punts look great against teams with bad secondaries.

And of course…

His escapability looks AMAZING against anyone, because OSU doesn’t get called for holding.

Did anyone see...

michigan FINALLY get screwed on a call? Michigan poped the ball loose from a Gopher and recovered, but had it stolen by a Gopher in the pile. Clearly something if reviewed would have gone to michigan. It was obvious on tv replay.

Good to see them getting a raw deal, even if its not a game changing call.

Georgia Losing

Of course it’s because they’re actually not very good at all, but we’ll just hear it’s because the SEC is so gosh darn deep!! But UM beating Minny means the B10 sucks…

Well, Georgia just doesn’t care anymore since they are out of the national title hunt now. That’s what the SEC always says when their teams tank in their bowl games.
