Tom Bradley to interview for Syracuse job?
Depends on how much faith you place in message board postings from former a Syracuse player.

Thomas Bradley..Bob Casullo..Randy Edsall
Just got word yesterday that Dr. Gross received a phone call from Tom Bradley, Penn States defensive coordinator. He's been at Penn St. for about 30 years and is lined up to be the Head Coach when Joe Pa retires. However that retirement is no where in site and he expressed a very strong interested in the Syracuse opening. I think that this took Dr. Gross by surprise. I also think he is a great coach but we don't want someone to come in for a few years and leave to go back to Penn St....
I usually do not commet to often on here as you can see but in the next few weeks if I hear of any positive and solid information I'll post it.

Take it for what it is worth.......Thomas Bradley will be interviewed for the SU job sometime next week. I don't believe there will be an offical announcement about the interview but it will take place. When Kiffin was here this past week no one knew about that either. Just because Bradley is getting an interview does not mean he is getting the job. Better yet after the interview he might not want it.

Good for Tom
I would hate to see him go, but the guy is long overdue for a head coaching job. If that’s what he wants to do, then good for him. I wish him a lot of success, except against us in 2009.

Fat chance in hell
The man didn’t wait around for 30 years just to take off for a sub-par job on the eve of the PSU position opening up. If he has indeed been tabbed as a top candidate to succeed Paterno, no way he does this.

Unless
Spanier pulled him aside and told him out of fairness to him that he would not be considered. GS has said all along there would be a national search. Maybe they want someone with some head coaching experience. If that’s the case Bradley may look at the Syracuse job as an opportunity to get that experience.
Suppose Joe coaches another two years. If he can turn that team around to where they are winning six or seven games in 2010 he might catapult himself into the lead for the job.

On one hand, I want the best most qualified guy for the job. I want no stone unturned looking for the next Joe Paterno. I want Bill Cowher interested, I want Bill Bellichick visiting the campus, I want them to dig up and reanimate Rip Engle and Tom Landry and interview them for the position. Seriously find the best guy (living or dead) out there.
On the other hand, I sincerely hope they decide after everything, that Tom Bradley is that guy.

agreed
I want Tom Bradley to be the next head coach, but I also really want the most qualified, best person to be the next head coach. I’m just hoping they are one and the same

TB
Would turn that program around in a jiffy, I think it’s not a bad move.
He is an excellent recruiter and Cuse has good facilites/history. The main reason the program went downhill is the emergance of Rutgers/UConn…they got the recruits Cuse used to get.
If he can get a stud OC, that program will be on the upswing.
He might know about who the program is leaning towards….Al Golden, LJ, JayPa, or someone else? Who knows…bottom line is TB might not get the gig at PSU and he knows it.

Funny
I always confuse him with Kendall Gill for some reason as well. Something not connected right in my head.

Funny
Kendall Gill does roll off the tongue but I had no idea who he was until you both said something about him. Then I just had to google it.

If Bradley Leaves?
do we hand it over to LJ sr.? or do we hire outside?

Paterno could end up coaching another 5 plus years
if he is pain free the guy is in fantastic shape. The US job could give Bradley some quality head coaching experience for when Joe finally does retire. If he goes, I wish him well & hope to see him back in the future.

My only worry here
is that he would recruit players that would have gone to PSU.
However, I don’t think he leaves State College, he loves it there.

Stop and think about this for a moment...
Just because they guy says he is a former player does not mean he knows didley about the situation. How many former players of a program are there at any given time? 1000 or more? Now if the AD is looking for a new head coach is he going to tell anyone of those 1000 players who he is interviewing? I doubt it…I would just wait and see what happens…also if Bradley goes, LJ, and Vandy, are both reasonable DCs.

...and think a little further:
Would the kind of former player who might get inside information from his alma mater (think Ki Jana) really be posting on a message board? If somebody was willing to risk his relationship with his school, then he probably has an axe to grind, and people like that will stir the pot for no good reason.
