Women's V-Ball Update
#1 ranked PSU's defending NC ladies swept #8 Cal 3-0 today to move into the Final 4. They are now 36-0 on the year. Pretty dominating.
What's really dominating, though, is the way they did it: by sweeping every match 3-0. That's right - they haven't dropped a single game (or set, as they're called now) since the 4th game of last year's title match. 109 straight, breaking Forida's long-time NCAA mark of 105. Folks, THAT'S domination.
They are off to Nationals in Omaha next week, and two wins means becoming back-to-back National Champions.
Let's go Lady Lions!
(Yes - they're waaay hot. Sorry to pre-empt you guys.)

When I was at PSU I worked
at the Atherton (then called the Atherton Hilton). I remember the Vanderbilt Womens BBall team staying at the hotel – their back court ran 6’6", 6’8", 6’10". I felt like a child.

wow
That’s pretty impressive.
one thing to remember, and I’m not saying this to bag on PSU, but there’s a HUGE difference between the top five and the rest of college volleyball.
Good luck. Not sure if the Huskers will make it to the Final Four or not, but wow, pretty impressive year by all y’all

Props to you guys, too,
for always fielding ass-kicking teams. You’re in the middle of nowhere – just like us – yet thrive on kicking West Coast butt whenevr you can.
See you folks next week!

Welcome to BSD, corn blight
Feel free to stop by once in a while to give us some updates from the Corn Nation.
The few Nebraska alum I’ve met are real nice people and I wouldn’t mind getting comments or news from them regarding football, volleyball, etc.

The PSU chant was so perfectly timed
Pass..“P”…Set…“S”…Kill…“U”!!
Loved it.

Seriously?
The chant was this well-orchestrated, in tune with the play on the court? That’s freakin excellent. I love this kind of stuff.

It sounded like it was in the Youtube clip above
I never saw/heard this done while at PSU or at the few games I’ve been to since graduation (’91), but I believe Penn State fans are smart enough to be able to pull that off.
I’m now thinking about doing something like this for my Thursday night volleyball team!

the psu chant
I went to several games this year, and the crowd always would do that chant. Each time we hit the ball the crowd says a letter. When the ball touches the opponent they say something else. I forget exactly, but i think it might be ’lets go state". Its pretty neat.

The Women's V-Ball crowd is cutting edge
That’s the first place I saw the ‘slo-mo’ to ‘speed of light’ waves performed about 3 years ago.

Their record is absolute domination
If you’ve never seen the women’s volleyball team in action, do yourself a favor and check out a game.

First set
I don’t think I have ever seen Rec Hall that energetic/amped than during that comeback in the first set against Cal. Down 19-13 to comeback and win 25-21 – I was very happy that I made the trip and skipped out of the early portion of my friends’ bar tour to watch that one.

I was waiting for someone to post about the vball team. My wife and I were up there this weekend (I take her to vball games for putting up with me at the football games) and that 1st set saturday was awesome.
Good luck to them on their way to becoming the greatest women’s vball team ever.
