Virginia quarterback Kevin Newsome has narrowed his potential college choices down to three schools:Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Boston College
Newsome, who intends to enroll in college in January, will hold a press conference at a sports bar in his hometown of Norfolk to announce his decision. The press conference is slated for early evening, but a specific time has yet to be set.
We need a Quarterback in this class.

but yeah, I thought the same thing. Why is a prep school kid who is under 21 making an announcement in a sportsbar? Hopefully we’ll get the news that everyone is projecting this weekend!

a Damon’s or something like that.
He is from Virginia which produced the Vick brothers….

As I said earlier today, all my VT coworkers came in to work mad at me today. They’ve all heard over the weekend that Newsome has swung our way with Devlin’s transfer. And some of these people are the type with subscription info.
I ain’t saying, I’m just saying. I’m not counting this fish until it’s in the boat.

From a co-worker whom is a Va Tech alum, along the same lines. And he said these insiders are pretty much on point when it comes to recruiting news.

I just watched some video on ESPN. He’s very raw. But no worries our QB coach extrodinare will coach him up to be a stud. Wonder if he has any interest in LB or DE? Doubtful I’m sure.

I stll think we should Redshirt Newsome if we get him because we need to fix those passing (lack of) skills. Very much like MRob (Legend) coming out of Virginia. Big, athletic, just needs to work on touch, accuracy, etc..

Indication from a couple of sources is that Newsome is going to go PSU, but I’ll believe this when I see it.
Brackett has been practicing at QB, supposedly.
We are currently
at #13 for recruiting classes on scout.com. Does Newsome put us in the top 10? And if we get Jenkins would that put us in the top 5? Not that it really matters though, however it would be a nice badge of honor.
Who knows
There are still a lot of uncommitted kids out there. I would imagine that adding Newsome, Brown, Jenkins, and Exum would put us in a great position on the board regardless.
Yeah, saw Jenkins has scheduled his official in late January
could be a nice final push to get him here. Looks like Florida might be the team to beat for his services.

I would say that I hoped it was raining the whole time he was at UF, but from what I’ve read he said it went “perfect”.

we were gonna be his last visit in January
until those damn swamp lizards got his attention a month or so ago. He visits us and supposedly will give UF one more from what I have read. Hopefully he comes to Happy Valley and never wants to leave. :)

I believe I remember reading his mom wants him to stay close to home. PSU is closer than Florida.

is playing for the MNC…we need a strong showing against the worlds greatest team not in the title game that should be in the title game beacuse they recruit the best players and have the coolest coach….ya get the point

Get Newsome, Exum, Brown and Jenkins we’re probably a top five class according to the recruiting services. But the important thing will be that Penn State went out and met all of their needs. Class rankings are good, but at the end of the day they don’t matter much.

Nobody thought we needed MRob or DC, but those worked out. Recruiting hype is only that. If this doesn’t work out nobody should go apoplectic. He could come here and never succeed.
Of course, I hope he does choose PSU.

we didn't NEED MRob or Clark
because we had Mills and Morelli. Sure, Mills always played hurt, and Morelli…well yeah. Right now we don’t even have someone of that “quality” to rely on should we not get Newsome.

says he has been assured the first interview after the announcement…this sounds pretty good for PSU. Or it could be a pretty awkward interview
