Let's Go State!

It’s been a while since I’ve watched some volleyball.

For those of you not privileged enough to have a live feed of this

I think you’ll find it here. I was not the one who originally discovered it, though, so don’t give me credit.

May no act of ours bring shame

This team

Is probably the best sports team I’ve ever seen live.

Nebraska

faces a juggernaut.

Four AVCA All-American first teamers.
109 straight sets going back to last season.
62 wins in a row.

But we have Omaha.

No kidding

The national championship game last year was what got me to upgrade to a 42"LCD TV, I couldn’t see the ball on my crappy 10 year old 30 inch TV and it seems like yesterday. GO PENN STATE.

We just needed a couple players, a couple people to buy in to the fact and we were able to do it. --A.Q. Shipley

These girls are enormous.

I have a friend from Denver who is a huge Nebraska fan, and she was giving me shit via text message last night. You have to love Nebraska fans. If the NCAA sanctioned watching grass grow as a sport, you’d have to think that Nebraska would fill a stadium with 85,000 people to watch it.

is pre-seleted every year.

Nah

I wasn’t a PSU fan in 1994. I’ve just really gotten into this team.

In fact…who the hell was I fan of in 1994?

by speedomike on Dec 18, 2008 10:30 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Isn’t that about when the CIA was training Osama?

by speedomike on Dec 18, 2008 10:33 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nah

He attacked the World Trade Center towers 1 and 2 in 1993… well he didn’t, but you know.

I think they were training him back in like… 1979.. sometime during the Carter administration when we also propped up Saddam Hussein.

How about the roots of Hezbollah or the PLO?

by AdamShell on Dec 18, 2008 11:11 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think they ever trained him

Sure, they trained the Mujahideen when Ivan invaded Afghanistan, but bin Laden didn’t get anything from the Pakistani intelligence, and by extension, us. He came to the Pakis, but they kinda blew him off.

I don’t know the hell a volleyball thread turned into me arguing about this.

Throw it to Zug!

by ReadingRambler on Dec 18, 2008 11:27 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

well

I think everybody knows we needed to take the first set to win this thing.

We came back against Washington on their home court last week, down 0-2, then down 9-3 in the fifth set, and coming back from that is unheard of, but unless PSU suddenly has fainting spells, that’s not happening tonight.

by HookMania on Dec 18, 2008 10:31 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

FYI

The regionals have been selected over the past couple years with an effort focused on ticket sales, but also keeping traveling to a minimum to cut down on expenses.

Final Four in Nebraska – the NCAA knows that Nebraskans will buy tons of tickets whether our team is in it or not. Call it a College World Series influence. There’s been talk about making it permanent in Omaha, but that would really be an unfair advantage for us, as we rarely lose in Nebraska.

And again, I must say

Nebraska kind of rocks for a giant rectagularish Plains state. We’ve been pulled over there twice. No tickets, super nice cops. I’ve stayed in Bugaha and Grand Island. I dig their silly little museum that stretches over I-80. And the meth? Sweetest in the land.

Zug really came through for us tonite.

Don’t ask how, just know that he did.

We just needed a couple players, a couple people to buy in to the fact and we were able to do it. --A.Q. Shipley

That was honestly the first volleyball game I've ever watched

from start to finish. I was watching it and drinking beer with a few dudes and…I was actually nervous for the girls by the end of it in a way I never thought possible. I’m definitely catching the title game. What? It’s on Saturday night at 8?!! F that. Good game tho girls.

That's what I did last Saturday

Friends started their bar tour, I went and saw the game against Cal, caught up with the tour after the game. One of those few ‘have your cake and eat it too’ moments.

Kinda, indeed

Championship game is up against the illustrious Las Vegas Bowl, pitting BYU vs Arizona. Something tells me this will be an easy bowl game to look past…
