Not everybody thinks that Penn State is doomed in the Rose Bowl. Phil Steele is calling for the upset, though he's not particularly enthusiastic about it.

(He saw good things for PSU back in August, too.)

what our bowl record is when we’re the overwhelming underdog, say +7 or more? Is there any way to look that up?

What coach leaves home the day before his birthday...

…spends it with his coaches and team in preparation for the bowl game. This, despite the fact that, traditionally, teams don’t arrive for bowl games until the week of the game. Among the things State College’s # 1 senior does well is prepare for bowl games. I have a feeling there are going to be many raised eyebrows come the evening of Jan 1.
