Devlin To Delaware
Didn't see it posted in my quick look at BSD this morning, so here you go:
As expected, former Penn State quarterback Pat Devlin committed to Delaware, a source close to Devlin told The Inquirer today. Devlin, along with his parents, Mark and Connie, visited the Newark campus this weekend and gave coach K.C. Keeler his pledge upon the conclusion of the visit. Devlin, a former high school all-American at Downingtown East, transferred out of the Penn State two weeks ago after a season as the backup to Daryll Clark.
Because he's transferring to a Division I-AA school, Devlin will have two years of eligibility as opposed to just one had he moved to a Division I-A program. The sophomore is expected to be enrolled at Delaware by Jan. 5 and early enough to participate in spring practice. Check tomorrow's newspaper for more.
As for the "check tomorrow's newspaper for more", Bernard Fernandez keeps the rally going in today's edition.
A funny thing about this whole situation -- it hung over the program for such a long time, but it's pretty clear that just about everyone is over it. There was the collective one or two-day freakout, but that's all.

Lack of prolonged freak-out
I think PSU’s immediate rocket-ride up Newsome’s standings after the news of the Devlin transfer combined with landing the kid made everyone quickly forget Pat Devlin. He bailed out of the program, we got a good replacement, so there isn’t anything keeping him from being written off as a minor footnote in the program’s history.

Um,
Pat who?
Seriously, while I hope he has success in football and more importantly, success in life, I can sum up my feelings about this with one word: NEWSOME.

KC Keller
if you are a HS QB and Keller is sitting in your living room talking about Delaware and about how you fit in, do you think he also whispers (oh by the way you will never play because i only play D-1A castoffs.) This guy has taken guys from D-1A programs his entire career at Delaware. He is just as bad as DickRod in that regard. I’ll recruit you, but only until the next Joe Flacco or Pat Devlin comes along.

It's kind of a shame
I was really enjoying the MESSAGE BOARD MELTDOWN (“FIRE JAY NOW!”).
Oh well. My sadness is tempered by Newsome.
Throw it to Zug!

What does 'over it' mean?
Less volume of decries? Less vitriol in the posting about the handling? Are people also over Oklahoma in the championship game instead of Texas, because we hear less about now?
I think the Serenity prayer is at play in all those things. Courage to accept the things we cannot change. Doesn’t make any of it right.

On a recruiting side note
I’ve been enjoying watching the boards at mgoblog totally implode after Shavodrick Beaver decommitted and chose Tulane.

Hmm
with a name like Shavodrick Beaver I would have expected LSU to have been in the running. They ususally have some doozies on their roster.

Paterno at his best.
Pat Devlin is a fine young man and I hope he is a success as a Blue Hen. I only wonder if the Old Master knew that dropping Devlin from the Rose Bowl roster would land Kevin Newsome .
Devlin was going to transfer anyway so Joe’s move only cost the team a very capable back-up QB for one game.
If you consider this as a Cost verses Benefit problem; Joe scored once again.
