How About A Case For The Big Ten Being Second Best?
All this BCS talk has gotten me pretty riled. Plus I've been inspired by the post "Why Not Us? At work yesterday, I made the bold statement that SEC was overrated. Yes...you heard me...the SEC is overrated. I don't think there's any question the Big XII was tops this year. But look at the SEC closer:
-No question Florida and Alabama were tops. Although Bama's non conference slate was weak.
-Georgia way under performed this year. LSU tanked this year. Ole Miss was a pleasant surprise. South Carolina? Not impressed. Vanderbilt? Not. Tennesse and Mississippi State stunk. Auburn tanked their year as well. Arkansas? Ditto. Kentucky wasn't that great either. Sure they beat each other up, but there wasn't much meat to me this year.
-Now the Big Ten. Penn State had a great year. Say what you want about Ohio State, but they were still 10-2. Michigan State had a nice year at 9-3. So did Northwestern. Iowa is on the brink of being ranked and three of their losses were by a total of 12 points. Minnesota improved big time this year to 7-5. Illinois tanked it this year and should have been much better. Michigan was putrid. Purdue was 5-7 (I think), but could hang with the bottom feeders of the SEC. Indiana was bad. Wisconsin...as off as they were this year, still made a bowl game.
I think the Big Ten had a much more ballanced year than the SEC. The SEC got the press, but I think the Big Ten was better. And name me any other conference with their own network. I think we'll see proof in the bowl games this year

How ws the big 12 tops?
Their defenses SUCKED the best defense in the South gave up 18.5 points per game. The other two “great” teams gave up 24.5 or more…hardly tops…
Also Texas Tech and Oklahoma kept their first teams in until the end of alot of games how many times could Penn State have scored 60? I think there are alot of games they could have done so.
The SEC is a decent conference not as good as last year but their top 2 are still better than anyone elses top 2.
Mark my words the Big 12 will get EXPOSED in the BCS games especially the National Championship.

ESPN
Disney carries as much (and better) Big Ten football as it does for the SEC, especially this year before the new SEC deal is in efffect The idea that the TV deal would bias the network towards the SEC is silly. By way of comparision, the most comprehensive deals that Disney has for college football are with the ACC and Big East and you don’t see them pimping either of those conferences.

Do you really believe
that ESPN is going to devalue a conference after they have paid so much to get the rights to broadcast a large number of their games? If you believe that I got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you for a great deal!

The Mountain West Conference
has their own network, which is older than the BTN.
They have the # 6, 11, and 16th ranked teams in the final BCS standings.
But no, the MWC is not better than the Big Ten, the SEC, or Big 12. Maybe the Pac-10 though…

Question...
…..is USC the only team ranked in the top 25 in the Pac-10 or is Oregon also ranked (who needed OT to beat Purdue)?
Does the Pac-10 get bashed nationally like the Big Ten? If not, why (or should I assume the answer is because of USC)?

Oh, sorry... the title of this thread confused me...
I was under the impression I got a case of beer for being a Big 10 fan. My mistake… I’ll show myself out
I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member
