Pryor Recruiting Tactic?
< a=href http://www.centredaily.com/news/breaking_news/story/411657.html a>
Just found this on the CDT website. While a casual fan will glance at this article and think "Joe is doing something good for people again", a more knowledgable fan may question the motives behind the story.
"PENN State Coach Joe Paterno has worked hard to bring awareness to Charcot- Marie-Tooth disorder."
While that seems like good philanthrophy, it should be noted that this is the exact disease that uber-recruit Tyrelle Pryor's father suffers from. I have not been able to find a link that discusses how long Joe has been involved in this endeavor. So it is nearly impossible to comment any further about the possible recruiting implications. I will leave that up for time to tell. I am just pointing a beam of light upon a story that seems fishy.

This Question Is......
If you have years of philanthropic history, then you can suddenly involved yourself in certain things (charitities for instance) and usually be above suspicion. If you haven't built up that currency (Rich Rodiquez cough cough) then you look slimy.
I have never seen the commercials, so I'll defer to BrioHondo as to whether this is a non-issue as it pertains to perception and Pryor.

Only in the world of college football recruiting
It's sure better than Jim Tressell having a meet and greet at a high school where he just signed a major recruit a few hundred miles from Columbus.

I don't think this is a tactic just to get Pryor. However, I do think this helps our standing with his family, if Mr. Pryor has the disease.
It may be the lucky break PSU has been waiting for over the last couple years.

There was Joe Paterno Water too...
The CMT stuff has been going on for at least a year, the CMT-Association was a sponser of the PSU Pre-game show all season long.
I am cartain that this is a non-issue. JoePa would not mug for a charity just to get at a recruit.

Joe's been doing this for years.
Unless Joe knew Pryor was going to be the #1 recruit 20 years ago when he started campaigning this disease, I think we're pretty safe on the conspiracy charge.

All Quiet on the Western Front?
Has anybody heard anything about Pryor lately? After announcing he was delaying his decision, things sure have quieted down. Somebody have the scoop?
