March Madness Open Thread - First Round

Terrelle Pryor has made his decision. The NCAA tournament is starting up today so nobody cares about football for the rest of this week. So I'm going to take a little break and just post an open thread. If you're watching the games feel free to comment. Enjoy the games.

If there is any urgent news that comes up you can rest assured we'll have it here.

March Madness On Demand
Is anyone else watching that march madness on demand thing? And is it going ridiculously slow for anyone else?

And its doing all right.  I'm pretty pleased.  The best part is, its free.

I agree with what Mike said before
this is much more stress free when you aren't in it.  P.S. All the games are on the internet, including the ones playing in your market.

Sparty
Looking good at the half.  So is UGS, who, ironically, is beating Xavier by the same score MSU is beating Temple, 35-26.  Go Dogs, I picked you.

Xavier
Xavier better pick it up in the 2nd half. I'll be really fucking pissed to see one of my Elite Eight teams go down on the first day to a team that already had their unholy win streak LAST weekend.

Georgia should be running on fumes... this is like what would have happened if Penn State had won the Big Ten tourney. Literally. Same amount of losses/wins. An upset over Georgia is almost unfathomable...

Well that's one bullet dodged...
... see ya later Bulldogs. Hell of a run for a team who wasn't even supposed to make it out of the second round of the SEC tournament!

Fucking Temple
Way to blow my bracket already.  That'll teach me for rooting for the home team and thinking MSU is beatable because...uhh...WE beat them.

by PSUWifey on Mar 20, 2008 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

If Akron can beat them
I wouldn't take them in a tournament game.

My Zips put the screws to them (alright, it was a one-point win) AT Temple earlier this year, which is why I knew MSU could beat them.

Okay, so that's not the best logic, but it worked.

Pitt
I picked the Spartans over to beat the hittsburgh panthers, mostly because all the people in the bracket pools I'm in have them winning it all.  F**ing yinzrs.  I Hate Pitt.  Lets go Sparty.

Itll be the battle of our real rivals vs. our fabricated ones.

This college tournament
bullshit has got to my last nerves anymore. My dad talks me into picking Georgia, who was up 11 against weak ass Xavier and they end up losing by 12.....

First impressions
I got screwed by thinking about things too much last year, so this year I went with first impressions.

3 for 3
in the early games. Come on marquette!

Potential upset in the Oral Robers/Pitt game
Way closer early on then I would have thought.

ehh nevermind
Pitt is pulling away now

Blowouts
The early games don't look very entertaining so far.

UGA
That was a good game, but these early afternoon ones have been laughers.  Purdue is dealing out some whoopass right now, and MSU looked good.  Things are going well so far for the "crappy" Big 10.

Kent sure embarassed the hell out of the MAC
I expected them to do WAY better than tie the record for lowest points scored in the first half.

Ugh, I wish now that Akron would have made it into the tournament. Guarantee that they wouldn't have been blown out this bad. They came in way overconfident.

USC and K-State
I am expecting this game to be a good one. I have K-State in my bracket. Just have to get through the nerd bowl now between Stanford and Cornell.

Big Ten
I hope we have some teams that go farther than expected after being a "weak conference" this year.  I also hope Indiana can pull it together, with the players they have they could put together a good run.

Not many upsets...
which sucks because sure I picked a lot.

Duke
Belmont is giving Duke all they can handle.

60-58 Duke with 7:48 to go.

One loss all day
And that was Kent St., so as long as UCLA and Wisconsin holds up, I'll consider this a good first day.

I have WVU, but not far, so I'll concede that game if an upset happens.

13 of 16
on the first day and no major hits.

I hate trying to pick Pitt.  Every year for the last five years they've gone out one round earlier than I predicted. Now watch this be the year they get past the Sweet 16 when I don't pick them to beat Memphis and Memphis goes like 4 for 40 from the free throw line.
