Congratulations to Lauer 1 and JoePa's da man, co-leaders after round one. You have earned the right to tell the rest of us we suck.

How is everyone's bracket looking? Is everyone else's Midwest bracket all blowed up like mine? Here are some questions for the group:

Give us your sob story about your elite eight team that didn't show up against their would-be doormat.

Which team did you pick to be a Cinderella that turned out to be an old hag?

Which pick are you most proud of? Which team made you pump your fist at your friend as he wiped his tears away with the paper his bracket is written on?

Settle in for a long weekend of college basketball. Things are surely going to get more interesting now. Here's an open thread to discuss the games.

Only managed to lose two sweet 16 teams, so could be worse.
That Winthrop over WSU pick isn't looking so hot now.
Wasn't great with the upsets. Had Davidson over Gonzaga and KSU over USC, but def. whiffed on the 12-5 matchups.

Moral of the story, depending on the brackets of those ahead of me, I could still be in it.

but I have some strange picks this round, such as Michigan State over Pitt. I'm still just 10 points behind the leaders, so today could either make it or break it for me

Have 25 of 32

so far and lost 2 Sweet 16 teams, Vandy and UConn. Now it starts to get interesting for me, I have Butler and Xavier in the Elite 8 and now the second round starts. Also have Marquette beating Stanford today.

Are not going to hurt terribly. Vandy and Drake dropped out of my sweet sixteen (thank God for you, Villanova, or else Tampa would have just slaughtered my bracket).
This year's bracket nearly went as wrong as last year's, also known as me losing my national champion on the first day.

Duke-WVU

This is one of the worst games I've watched all year. Every possession ends in an offensive of defensive foul. Theres a whistle every 10 seconds. We'll be lucky if this ones over by 6. The announcers are also incredibly cliche and unoriginal. What a shameful broadcast this ones been.

Hope no one had Duke going far

I had them beating WVU, but getting knocked out to Xavier. At the rate this tournament is going, it's going to be upset-central thus rendering every Sweet 16 game totally useless to me.

There's no madness when every team I picked is knocked out by some mid-major no-name team. The tournament selection committee has got to figure out how to seed these teams - Duke was NOT a good choice for a #2 seed.

Lets all calm down here. Pitt lost to a Big 10 team! How much shit have you taken. "The Big 10 sucks", "Michigan St. Sucks, Who Cares If You Beat Them?".

Well. Nooooooowwww whos laughing. O the joy. Its indescribeable. I can't wait until Tuesday. I'll listen to the voices of the Pitt fans tremble, stammering on about how they're still awesome, even though the lost in the 2nd round.

Friends. The hate still burns deep inside me, and last night validated that Pitt is, and always will be, a second class college program.

We'll remember this season for beating Michigan St. shorthanded. Pitt fans will remember it for losing to Michigan St. with all their guys. How sweet it is.

P.S. This is a lot easier to say when you picked Sparty to triumph in your bracket.

I feel the Big 10 pride right now because we're under fire so much anymore. Anywhere you look, its "Big 10 sucks" "they're no good because they're from the Big 10" blah blah blah blah blah.

It really gets to me listening to Pitt fans talk shit, which is why watching Sparty win last night was so awesome. Now, theres nothing of any meaning that they can say that will let me take them seriously, and I love that. Sorry.

Pitt

is very consistent, they go out one round earlier than I predict every year. What a horrible performance by them (2 of 17 from 3-pt range), MSU is hardly unbeatable. Wisconsin looks very good right now, but I don't know if they can beat Kansas if it comes to that.

I only have 8 of 16, the good news is 7 of my elite 8 are still alive, and my final 4 and champ are still there. It's hard to see how anyone's going to beat North Carolina.

F'in Georgetown...

...there goes my first Final 4 team. I'm really glad that I'm just about the only person who picked Stanford to represent the South, because them upsetting Texas and Memphis (??) is going to be the only way I finish near the top.
