Enter someone who's not Morelli!

Bell
Witnesses said he took part in the HUB fight, but he was never charged.

The word on Bell is that he has some acedemic issues to work out. I think Paterno is giving him the spring off to think about his commitment to the team.

#1
Nice to see Wallace put the target on his back and took number 1.

Hopefully Lawlor can bring some pride to number 33.

I assume this means no spring practice
for those guys, sucks for us.

#1; I think Michigan reserves 1 for their top reciever, it's considered a high honor to wear it, and they don't just let anyone do it.  I wonder if Penn State's corners are trying to do the same thing?

Also, if your interested below is the link for that grid iron bash thing, so you can vote if your interested. We're in third, hopelessly behind Alabama, but within striking distance of aTm. Whatever, Fergie sucks.

#1
Then someone has to explain to me why Anwar Phillips was #1 while Alan Zemitis was #21. If there is a trend of the top corner taking #1 it started with Justin King

I think to a certain extent there is some passing down of numbers in recent years. But unlike Michigan where the coaches reserve the right to hand down the #1, at PSU the players hand them down to each other. The underclassmen like to take the number of an outgoing senior they look up to. They may or may not be great players.

It is interesting the list of numbers that are held in high regard at Penn State. 12, 14, 22, 31, 32...it would make for an interesting blog post some day. Good one for the offseason.

Transfer
I think he is transferring or just giving it up.  Don't think it's academic or legal issues.

Injuries
He's in rehab now for his second serious knee injury. I think he's decided to just give up football.

wow
10 names not on the roster, with at least six having seen playing time in the past.  seeing that many names is really really sad.  it really hits home as to the type of off season we've had so far.

position changes
Saw this on FOS regarding position changes, thought it was pretty interesting:

Tyler Ahrenhold: receiver to defensive back
Brent Carter: running back to safety
Kevin Cousins: receiver to defensive back
Ryan Gmerek: receiver to running back
Tom Golarz: defensive end to fullback
Cedric Jeffries: safety to linebacker
Tyrell Sales*: linebacker to defensive end

Brent Carter to safety is one that really intrigues me... Are we hurting at safety that badly that we would sacrifice a talented RB?

Carter
He had four or five good carries against a team that was clearly playing nickel.

He was a place holder so they didn't have to burn Green's redshirt.  He did an admirable job, but I think his furture was always going to be in the secondary, especially given the suspension bug with those guys.

Cedric
I'm not diggin this move. I like leaving the depth at LB to our young studs: Colasanti, Dailey, Stupar, and the three new Mikes. Aren't we light at Safety? Was looking fwd to seein this dude back there. Side note: Cedric's dad parked his RV next to ours at the ND game last year. He was really nice. He spent some time getting his DirectTV dish mounted and sorted right, and watching him climb all over the RV doing all that, you could definitely see his athleticism; he looked like a lithe mountain cat. We want to see his boy at Safety. Bettin he can cover gaps AND bring some pain.

Carter
was originally a safety who was moved to RB to keep Green's RS.  He will do better at safety then Yisreal did!

BC
Was actually a four star running back out of high school and ranked as a higher RB prospect than Royster.  I think he will be fine in either position, but safety requires a lot more team practice as the secondary works as a unit within the defense.  His need for practice at the position and our being thin at the position explains the move.  I would not be surprised if he received some reps at the RB position during spring ball though.
I thought only safeties played 15 yards off the ball?
