Eric Shrive Commits...
to PSU. Nice pickup of a (6' 7", 300) 5* OL. I don't have premium access, but here's the link.
Along with another OL from VA, Frank Figueroa (6'4", 270), the recruits are starting to pour in. The Shrive pickup is a steal as he was originally been reported as favoring ND.
This is great news. Now I'd like to see us pull is some WR's and a couple QB's.

Zookie
I guess Shrive wasn’t too impressed with Motivational Speaker Zook’s message.
Nice pick up. Let’s bring ‘em all in. Who will be the first big receiver to verbal?

Not sure who'll be the first WR....
to commit, but Jaleel Clark from Allentown would be a great start.

woot
This has been a great week! I wonder if out recruiting success is somewhat because of the openings on our roster next year. PSU may look better than OSU/ND just because of these kids will be able to come in and make an impact vs being buried on the depth chart. How funny is it that Zook gave a speech in Scranton PA for no apparent reason. Maybe he will get a good cheerleader to come to Illinois from Scranton.

What in tarnation is going on up there in Happy Valley?!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining but nobody, and I mean nobody thought we were getting Shrive! Add him to the Figueroa commitment from VA and we’re rolling! I’m in shock, total shock over the Shrive commitment. I just got done posting on fightonstate that he wasn’t coming to PSU based on his apparent lack of interest. What do I know? I’m more than pleased to admit that I was wrong!!!!!!! Awesome news!!!!!

I am a bit concerned...
that schools might still try and poach some of these guys, especially if the Lions have a rough year, (like the so called experts predict).
Success without honor is like an unseasoned dish, it will fill you up but it won't taste good. - Joe V. Paterno

Who is predicting a rough year?
We have the talent to beat everyone on the schedule and play in a BCS game. If we don’t finish with 10 or more wins then it will be a disappointing year.

True...
I agree. Yeah we are ranked 5th so far, but we’ll have to prove ourselves early. I think we will surprise some people if the QB situation turns out to be a success.
And I’ve never paid attention to the off season like I have this year, but all this good news is getting me pumped. Hopefully we can keep what we have, and land some bigger names.

Just as important
The recruits we are bringing in seem to be excellent student-athletes.

Seems to fit what Paterno said all along
that the last class was pretty good, but limited by scholarships – this class is an important one, and seems to be gathering steam…good get on Shrive…
