Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Who is Myles Gibbon?

At the State College Nike Camp a few weeks ago there was a lot of buzz about an unknown quarterback from Canada who just showed up to work out. By the end of the day a lot of people knew Myles Gibbon. But the rest of us were still left wondering. So here's an introduction.

Gibbon set the record for touchdown passes in a season in 2007 for the Candian Triple A Collegiate Football League in leading his team to a perfect 8-0 record. Then he led his team to the league championship.

Then there's this.

Ok. I'm impressed. Someone give this kid a scholarship offer.

Hmm

Get him a good QB coach and he could be pretty good.

Yeah Man

Kid looks like he has a lot of potential…give him to Jay and he’ll turn a great high school QB into an average high school QB

Hey!

Jay’s great! He coached MRob!

This kid is gross

I’m totally down with taking a “chance” on him. He looks athletic and he can make throws.

by psuphiman80 on May 23, 2008 9:34 AM EDT reply actions

I agree..

He’s got good touch and power on the move. If you watch he also does the Tebow style lunge forward on some plays to fake the run. It seems like he needs to have a little bit better pocket presence though – every chance he had in that film to get outside he does. Faster DE’s might get him into trouble there and give him some nasty shots. He doesn’t quite look as fast as Pryor but I’d agree he’s definitely worth a prospect shot. Depending on his hands he might see some WR action too. A 6’3 kid with decent speed can make a living out there.

Highschool?

Didn’t he go to the same HS as some former PSU players?

He looks like the real deal – Big, Strong, Good Arm, and can move…Jay Pa will screw this kid up! Why is Big Red not the QB coach?

Thanks for the update Mike

I had a ton of questions and interest following Myles’s Nike Camp.

Looks like he is definitely worth a shot.

wow

His video reminds me of pryor, but I am no expert.

Big Red

i think once JoePa rides off into the sunset, Big Red will get moved to his right position of QB Coach. I don’t understand how we have a QB coach who couldn’t even get into the lineup in college but have a WR coach who played and played very well. Big Red would really help us in QB development. He wouldn’t just use the plays he designed on PS3.

this kid looks like the real deal. he even wears a visor, so American of him.

I'm against giving him a scholarship

He would require a lot of coaching up and I don’t think that will happen under JayPa. Canadian football is a lot different than American football. It’s a lot more wide open and provides the opportunity for big plays that won’t occur in American football. IMO this kid is not a D1-A QB. If we offer him I’ll be disappointed because I think it will be a wasted scholarship. I’m not knocking the kid, I just think we’d be better served going elsewhere for our QB. Hopefully Tate Forcier sees an offense that would be the perfect fit for his talents this year and he gives us his signature in February. I honestly believe that Tate Forcier would actually progress in our system because he already has excellent accuracy and it appears that he makes good decisions. A QB like that could become an AA or All Big Ten at PSU just like MRob.

JayPa

Who knows how much longer JayPa will be on the staff? I think this kid is a great athlete and has good enough armstrength to throw on that big field. We need athletes at QB and if we’re taking two QBs I’m down with him. I’ve read from the Nike Camp that he looked really good.

by psuphiman80 on May 23, 2008 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Tate Forcier

If Tate Forcier goes to a school past the Rocky Mountains i will be shocked. Cal is in need of a stud QB to run their offense. With Chow and Neuheisel on that staff, it is tough for Penn State to compete. We have the luxury of taking a “project” at QB because Devlin will be 2 years remaining by the time Gibbon stepped on campus.

if we don’t land Forcier, which i don’t think we will, our best bet is to recruit a couple of athletic kids who need some fine tuning and then let them loose in a couple of years. Forcier is the type of kid that is going to want to play right away or at least have the opportunity to come in and compete for some time. He won’t have that opportunity right away at Penn State.

Doesn't Cal

Have the freshman kid that played pretty well last year in the one game against Oregon State? I don’t think UCLA has a great shot because they are backloaded at QB and I think his brother is there right now. I wouldn’t count us out just yet.

by psuphiman80 on May 23, 2008 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

UCLA

they have his brother, who he is projected better then and Riley who did OK in his time behind thet wheel last year. Count out VA Tech, Michigan, Wisconsin got their man the other day, Arizona State has Elway. he likes to run out of the shotgun. i wouldn’t be surprised to see Texas A&M, Oregon, Auburn, Stanford, and PSU to get the best looks.

Oregon

Didn’t Oregon get their man in a JUCO transfer and in the last recruiting class? I think they’re out. Auburn has three QBs coming in one class and another for 2009. I don’t know if they are all QBs but I would guess at least half are. Stanford has their QB in Andrew Luck who scout rates as a 5* athlete. The simple fact that he is the best QB option should at least keep us in the running. I can’t possibly see him at Auburn or Oregon.

Gibbon

Besides what I’ve heard from the message boards, is there any concrete evidence saying Forcier prefers us over his other offers? Why end up waiting until the end like we did with Pryor, only to find out he’s going somewhere else?

I think he is worth the scholarship offer. From what I saw, all of his decisions to run were good. And the kid can move as well. He looks like he has a decent arm too, the way he just flicks the ball out like that. Instead of feeding into the rankings given by scouts/rivals, I wouldn’t mind us trying to find a diamond in the rough.

They said, "I don't know his name, but he aims like Wayne Gretzky"

heres a link to one of them and this site also has a bunch of some of the best of what cegep football has to offer the states

QB

PSU has staked it’s QB recruiting on Forcier. Omegaman is right, we don’t know if this kid is really interested in attending a school on the other side of the Country. In the end we need at least two QB prospects and at least two quality WR’s. Myles Gibbon looks like a worthwhile risk especially if Tate stays in California.

Gibbons

He just seems like a guy I would trust in a 2-minute offense sort of situation.

Why Not Gibbons

I think it would be great if PSU offered this kid. He has good size, speed, and seems to have a good arm. He obviously made a lot of big plays, I’d give him a shot and give him an offer. Hopefully he’ll fly under the radar, come to PSU and be the next MRob.

by crispen333 on May 24, 2008 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

I may be crazy

But does anyone else think his throwing motion/release is a little sketchy? He seems to be fairly accurate with things like the fade pass, but I did notice the receivers had to make a lot of adjustments to the ball after it was in the air on other passes. He looks slippery, but got caught from behind a number of times – in high school that’s a bit worrisome. A scrambler ideally should only be caught from behind by top-end speed type guys. Like everyone has said, good potential but looks like a project.

Vanier College is a CEGEP and not a high school

Quebec has a little bit different high school setup than everywhere else in North America. High School is only three years, then student who wish to attend a University spend two more years at a CEGEP:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEGEP

So everyone in the videos was at least 17 or 18.

by Bhawoh Jue on May 27, 2008 10:46 AM EDT reply actions

It seems

in the article attached to the video it said he was 19 years old. Which would make him 20 years old by the time 2009 season comes around.

age

well some players in CEGEP right now are actually 20-21 years of age on the team and would have a full 4 years of playing in the NCAA
