PSU in a preseason Top 10?!?
I haven't seen anybody talk about this around here which I thought is weird because everyone should be reading EDSBS for a little bit of funny in the college football world. But anyways, Phil Steele is ranking PSU #10 for his preseason poll. It seems high to me because I like to be skeptical and not get let down (and in my mind I see 4 very loseable games; both OSUs, Wisc and UM). But maybe this could be another magical season!

I see only 3 games we could lose on the schedule
and if we lose more than 2 I’ll be disappointed with the season. I think OSU, UW, and UM are games we could lose but I expect us to finally beat UM. I also think that we should beat UW but with it being on the road, I won’t hold my breath. OSU, I’ll be praying heavily for a W that week but I wouldn’t put a single dime on that game because it’s in Columbus.
Patiently waiting for the return of Penn State Football
Of course we could lose to Illinois or technically anyone on the schedule for that matter but what I meant was, I don’t expect us to lose to anyone outside of OSU, UW, and UM.

I'm Not.......
usually overly optimistic about PSU since I always feel like the offense has to play mistake free to put up enough points to win…...however, I think we are going to put some points on the board this year. If the defense is a little better (healthier) than it was last year I think we are in for a great season. Nobody is talking about us even though we bring so many starters back. The running game is going to be good and people are going to have to respect the mobility of the QB unlike the last two seasons.
Prediction…....Penn State and Florida in the National Championship game :)

"fingers crossed"...
...it’s going to be exciting to have an electrifying offense this year; a la ‘94…we had perhaps the greatest offense of all-time with Kerry Collins, Ki-Jana Carter, Kyle Brady, Bobby Engram, Freddie Scott and an offensive line that allowed only four sacks all season and helped Carter to a preposterous 7.9 yards per carry. 12-0. Undefeated!...’05 obviously not too shabby!
I still feel (like I had posted back in January) that both Clark & Devlin will share time, thus making opposing coaches scratch their heads alot to get their guys in place…if they can stop us…that’s another story. Hopefully our QB’s will be patient and make the correct reads and check-off well.
Moreover, the talent PSU has this year – coupled with what I think are very versatile athletes QB, RB, WR, TE and OL; where the QB's can run and throw, RB's that are fast...and can catch - or throw...same WR and then athletic an OL that are big and strong & seasoned…what a combination! ! !

I don't see Florida as making it...
They have an increadibly tough schedule this year, and I really don’t see it happening without two losses.
Success without honor is like an unseasoned dish, it will fill you up but it won't taste good. - Joe V. Paterno
Carolinaeasy.......
Florida. Really ? When I compare last years schedule to this years schedule I think it sets up nicely for them to make a run. There is no reason to think they won’t beat everybody they beat last year…....they don’t have Auburn this year….no reason to think they won’t beat Miami at home early in the season…....UT is without a QB from what I can tell…...same with Arkansas (nevermind the obvious there).....LSU at home…...Kentucky at home with no Andre Woodson…......no reason to think they won’t paste South Carolina again at home….......Vandy…....at FSU (who is FSU putting under center this year?).
In fact the more I read what I just wrote, damn…....I really think you have to have them as a favorite along with UGA from the SEC.

Dawgs with the better running game....
I think like last year the Dawgs will have the Gators number. Knowshon Moreno is just too good and will rip the gators for about a buck fifty. Also watch for Caleb King to be a dynamic back-up to Moreno. He is from Gwinnett County and people in Georgia have been tagging him as the next Herschel Walker for quite some time. Also this is supposed to be the year that Matt Stafford becomes a superstar (which is still questionable in my mind since Morelli put up better numbers last year).
As for your PSU prediction…..I do not think it is as off as many people do. Like 1986….our offense only needs to be serviceable and take care of the ball. Our defense has so much promise that anything less than a BCS game is going to disappoint. A good victory over Oregon State is key….as I think it will give the team a lot of confidence.
I thought only safeties played 15 yards off the ball?
I don't know about Florida
But the SEC champion will play for the national title even if they have a loss or two. Their constant whining about how tough their conference is and how bad they beat each other up has convinced the pollsters to give them a pass and put their champion in the BCS title game.
And after Ohio State laying eggs the last two years any Big Ten team is going to have to go undefeated to qualify in the eyes of the voters. Even then they better hope USC and everyone else loses a game or two or else they will be on the outside looking in. We have a long way to go to earn some respect, and scheduling Coastal Carolina and directional Michigan won’t help. Only some big bowl wins will earn us back the respect we used to enjoy.
