National Champions

Congratulations to the Penn State Nittany Lion Men's Volleyball team for beating Pepperdine 3-1 to capture the second national championship in school history. The win firmly cements Penn State as the collegiate volleyball capitol of the country as we currently host both the men's and women's trophies in State College.
Let me be the first to suggest we erect a sign on Route 322 as you come through the mountain pass that says "Welcome to Happy Volley - Home of the Nittany Lions. Beware of round objects traveling at high rates of speed. Attempt to block them at your own risk."

Congratulations!
Even if you're not a VB fan, check out the dramatic game summaries for both teams. The women won the first 2 games, lost the next 2, and came out swinging in the 5th game to win. The men lost the 1st game, were 1 point away from losing the 2nd game but pulled out the win and then won the next 2 games.
The teams' combined records were an amazing 64-3!
All Penn Staters should be very proud of the volleyball teams!

I'm extremely proud.
Side question: Since joining the Big Ten, don't we have more total Big Ten championships than any other league school?

Congrats indeed
Watching Penn State in the volleyball final four every year always leads me to telling some acquiantance that I played volleyball in high school, and unless that person's from PA, they inevitably give me a strange look and mention that their high school had no boy's volleyball team.
My question is: why the long history of volleyball in PA? After California and Hawaii, PA is probably the strongest volleyball state, which makes little sense...does anyone know why?
