Steven Spielberg Ain't Got Nothin' On Stephon Morris
A tip of the hat to the guys at Fight On State. At the Scout Combine in Baltimore they gave future Penn State cornerback Stephon Morris a camera and let him have some fun with it. The result was pretty cool.
My favorite parts:
1. Hearing Morris go "aaaw" when Heastie says no chance of him changing his commitment to Penn State.
2. Seeing the pride in his dad's eyes when talking about his son's commitment. (In case you missed it, Roman Morris stopped by BSD the other day and had more great things to say about Stephon.)
3. Seeing Sean Stanley now and trying to picture him after a few years in the S&C program. YIKES!

UPS...
This is great- I love the pride Stephon Morris has already for the blue & white. I really think this recruiting class is snowballing into a top-10 class for sure. We’ve got some athletic kids already- and they’re providing us with some great help recruiting future teammates!
One thing- Stephon referred to Penn State as “The University of Penn State”. This would make us UPS!

we should...
use roman morris for recruiting… everytime anyone ever has a question, just play that little ditty for them. its pretty cool to see a young man with such pride for a school he’s not even at yet… maybe football players these days arent as bad as some think

the impact of same-state players with other recruits
Interesting to see Staley talk about “I committed to Penn State because there was already a lot of Maryland players going there.” You gotta love to hear that, and you have to give all the credit to LJ Sr. In addition, to hear Roman Morris talk about JoePa so much, makes you wonder what the coaching staff is telling the recruits and their families about the coaching situation.

Really impressed
I’m really looking forward to watching these guys on the field. It’s great to see these kids (I feel old saying that, and I’m only 20) have such pride and enthusiasm to be able to play for PSU. I can see that Mr. Morris has done a great job not only supporting his son with his athletic prowess, but also instilling in him a very strong character that is often a rare trait in a high school student. It’s good to see that LJ Sr. not only knows how to find and recruit incredible athletes, but also find ones with wonderful character and pride. Good luck, Stephon, welcome to the fraternity of lions.

I saw this earlier
It’s great to see such raw emotion from Stephon’s father, Roman. You can tell how proud he is and how much he loves his son, now he is getting to see his son take another big step forward in life by deciding to attend Penn State and further himself academically and athletically. I’ve got to believe that Roman has taught Stephon a few tricks of the trade on the field.
Does anyone know if Brandon Felder, another MD Penn State commit attended this event/combine/camp on Tuesday in Baltimore? I thought he was going to be there but I haven’t heard much.
Another positive with regard to Stephon Morris, Derrick Thomas from Eleanor Roosevelt and really the Maryland recruits & LJ SR. in general is the fact that it is really looking like ATH Devon Smith is going to end up getting a Penn State scholarship sooner or later. He is diminutive in size, 5’7 155 pounds or so but don’t let that fool you; Devon is lightning in a bottle. I’m not sure how well we could utilize him on offense early on given his size, but a player with Devon’s speed can work magic with minimal touches. Devon used to attend Eleanor Roosevelt H.S. along with Stephon and Derrick Thomas before transferring, and he knows DWill…all indications seem to be that if he is offered he will commit to Penn State and join the other great recruits from Maryland that we have gotten for this ‘09 recruiting class.
I don’t think the coaches would use him as a punt returner and I would hope that they wouldn’t because I certainly don’t want to see him get blown up – but Devon could really make his mark occasionally in the slot, a couple touches out of the backfield [running or receiving] as well as returning kicks. I believe he ran the 100M in 10.3 seconds and the 200 in 21.0 which is ridiculous. I know he is going to probably be at Penn State on the 25th for camp, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets an offer on the spot if the coaches have seen his transcripts/grades and such.

Roman Morris
...looks like he could play for us next year, too. And yes, his words about Penn State should make all of us proud.

Roman
If Stephon works as hard as his dad does in the weight room we will be in good shape. the kid is great in front or behind the camera. He could very well be the knew Deon Butler.
We really should put Roman on the payroll. he can go around Maryland and talk to recruits.
I thought it was great that Stephon mentioned trying to get Tavon Austin to come to State. Our class is really shaping up, hopefully no one will pull a Michael Shaw

Defections
I think the fact these kids all know each other so well bodes well against defections. They are all getting psyched about going to college together. If one of them lets his eye start to wander the rest can bring him back in. It’s nice to read that the one kid with a history of defecting (Darrell Givens from Ohio State) is now one of our biggest recruiters.
