Every once in a while I get an email from a user asking if it's ok to troll BSD to either sell tickets or solicit other users for tickets. As a blogger I don't have a problem with this. Why should I? If it drives traffic to BSD I'm all in favor of it.

But here's the deal, I want to do it in an organized fashion. If everyone throws up a fanpost every time they get an extra ticket to Coastal Carolina or Youngstown State the quality of BSD is quickly going to go down the toilet. So with that in mind I'm creating this Fanpost specifically for the intent of exchanging tickets. Please leave a comment in this thread indicating if you have tickets to sell or you are looking for tickets to buy. And of course indicate how many tickets you are looking to buy/sell. I would prefer you not indicate any prices you are looking for in selling your tickets. We all know scalping is illegal, right?

If you wish to make a transaction I recommend you do so off the board in a private email. I would advise against posting your email address in the comments. The spam bots are sneaky about plucking them and flooding your email box. I recommend everyone check out their SBN profile (link at the top of any SBN page) and make sure your email is posted there. SBN uses encryption to protect your public email so you can be sure it's safe. Clicking on a user's name in a comment will direct you to their profile page where you can look up their email address.

One more thing. I would like to see this post remain linked on the front page. To do so we need at least three or four people to recommend the post. You can do so by clicking on the "rec" link at the bottom of the post before the comments begin. So if a few people could do so that would be great.

Great idea, I’m sure this will prove fruitful for people that want to unload/pickup tickets. I know its a lot to ask, but I hope people are respectful of decency in pricing… (then again, you can wish in one hand and shit in the other to see which on fills faster)

Hopefully the free market will take over. People trying to unload their tickets for $200 may find themselves getting undercut by people willing to sell theirs for face value if we get enough interest in this..

No more scalping? That law passed last year allows scalping as long as you live in or have a legal business in PA.

Scalping is defined by m-w.com as “to resell at greatly increased prices “

Trust me, this “law” was in effect last year and it did not slow down the street scalpers at either PSU or Pitt games.

Usually not Mike. I paid $40 for $55 face value box level seats for the Navy @ Pitt game last year. Regular seats were going for $10-$15 street value.

Haven’t been to a game in a couple seasons and would like to take my fiance (who would be my new wife by that weekend) to the Beav. She went to a lame urban school and has never experienced big time football.

Cool Beans

Love the idea of extending BSD into services. Mike, do you think this is the same method (recommended FanPosts) that could be used to support individual games’ threads? I was first thinking of the need for away games: a place, in BSD, where we could go to read & post ideas & links for food, drink, tailgating, transportation, accommodation, etc. But then thought why limit it to away games—we could include home, and just have an all-inclusive Game Day page/post/thread.

I see you can add a Tag to a scheduled game to a post, but can you post/comment to a Scheduled Game? Could we make a separate FanPost for each game and get it linked to the front page via the Recommend button? What do you think is the best way?

Visiting guides

I’m working on a guide of the PSU game day experience for visiting fans. Some of my big ten blogging bretheren may do similar guides for their schools. So hopefully those will become useful.

I’m not sure where you’re going with the attaching posts and comments to games. You talking about doing a link exchange post for each game? We could do that, but I would prefer one of our fine readers take charge of it. I’ve got enough going on trying to constantly put out new material.

FanPost for Each Game

Good idea on the Visiting Guides.

Yeah, I think that’s what I’m after: a link exchange Plus for each game. Maybe, given your Visitor Guide, it makes more sense to just start them for the away games. I’ll be glad to start them up, was just trying to make sure I used the right method. Would want them to be a onestop location for PSU travelers going to that game. Maybe each game’s FanPost would include the kickoff time, location, a few descriptive links, and a solicitation for commenters to provide tips/suggestions on important visiting things (similar, I’m sure, to your Visitor Guide to PSU home games) like food, drink, tailgating, transportation and accommodation. As it happens, I’m going to the first away game, to Syracuse, so I’ll start that up and see how we go.

Would love for it not to get lost or have it repeated; is the Recommend button the best way to get it tied to the front page?

Recommending them will get them on the front page, but there are problems with is. As we recommend new posts others will fall off the page. And I think after 30 days comments shut off on all posts to prevent spamming and the post falls off the front page.

I have the ability to put permanent links in the sidebar if we think that’s a good idea. I would like to see how this things works before I do that though.

tix for sale

I have 2 tix for sale to the Coastal Carolina, Temple, and Indiana games for sale. Tix are in section NDU Row 84 seats are side by side.(Looking for Face value $52 each ticket) These tickets seem pretty high up, but the seats aren’t bad at all.
