Season Ticket Cutoff for 2008 season is....
Just wanted to let everyone know that the cut off this season was 52 points. I got the letter in the mail today. I only have 40 so i'm out of luck again.
better luck next year. It is tough every year because there are so many different rumors about what the range is going to be. Now that Penn State is on the verge National power, everyone is keeping the tickets. I hope they don't try to sell them on stubhub for triple the profit.

Why is there a single game sale
if there is a Nittany Lion Club point cut off? You would think they would sell season tickets to anybody who wanted them before having a single game sale for the general public.
That sucks.

Hang in there
You’ll get them eventually. You may want to kick in a little extra next year to make sure. I lucked out. I knew we were going to have a great team in 2005 and since we were coming off of our 4th horrible season out of 5, I knew the time was right at the end of 2004 to request season tickets. I got them and have renewed them ever since. I’ve only got 29 total points to date. Sometimes it’s just timing.

Yep, one of the smartest things I've ever done in my life!
I also asked them for preferred seating when I put in the request and I got that too! I’m very happy sitting on the West Side with 29 points only for the last 4 seasons now. If I ever end up losing that seat due to some reseating procedure I’ll be very, very upset with the NLC! It’s not my fault others didn’t have faith in the program and didn’t apply for or renew their season tickets in 2004 unlike myself!!!
By the way, I have that gut feeling this year again. I think we’re going to have a similar type year like we did in 2005!

I’ve got it, too. We’re going to be way better than anyone expects.

I think the system's fair...
NLC members still get priority for tickets, and this way, there are more tickets available for the crappy coastal carolina, etc. games at home, so that other fans can have a chance at getting a face-value ticket and being sure of attendance.
I think it does sort of suck though for most everyone who reads this blog. You can get season tickets through out your time at school (or at least you used to, back when the student section was completely drunk and half didn’t come in until the second quarter), but then, unless you can afford to donate $500 a year, you’re pretty much priced out of season tickets for another 15-20 years.
But given the fact that they need to raise money, I think it’s about as fair as you can get.
Take the ND example. They no longer issue new season tickets, but if you got them when they were last available (ten years ago or something) you can keep them until you die (no donation required; but if you’re found scalping season tickets, you lose them). All the other seats are raffled off to alumni, and it’s a marginal donation for the raffle $25 or $50 per game that you request tickets for.
Anyway, with Penn State, at least you have a better sense of what you need to do to be guaranteed seats. I just want a ticket to the Illinois game, and I don’t think I’m going to get it without paying a scalper.

The System
works. I really need to kick in the $600 for the life time membership and just up the donation next season.
Tried getting tickets for Wisconsin game….need 88 pionts for that. When i’m old and can’t travel i will enjoy away games.

me too
it’s a pain to give that $600, but it’s a smart investment anyway; it more than pays for itself over time.

The donation does pay.
Not only are you guaranteed tickets for face value once you’re in, there’s the tax benefits to donating to the Nittany Lion Club.
