going to the Illinois game
A buddy and I are driving up from Columbus to the Illinois game on Sep 27, 2008. I was looking for a hotel or a place to stay on the way back home since the game is at 8pm. Will be a long game of partying and watching Penn State win. I figure the best play to stay is probably outside of Penn State because by now I probably won't be able to get a hotel room. Can anyone recommend a hotel towards Grove City? or anything towards the west?
Thanks

I would check the Hampton Inn off exit 101 in Dubois. Nice hotel and price shouldn’t be too much. It’s only 61 miles from the I-99/220 exit to the Dubois exit on I-80.

You live in Columbus?
Me too. Well, Hilliard to be exact. Do you know many/any other Penn Staters out here?

I live in Grove City, OH. I don’t know any other Penn Staters out here just a lot of OSU people.

I hear that...
The Central Ohio Chapter of the PSU Alumni Association is based in Columbus. I joined a few years ago, but haven’t yet gone to any of their functions. They’re fairly active from what I can tell. If you want the name/E-mail of the president, I can give it to you. I know some members were getting together at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Bethel Road for games last fall.

You take 80 to get from Columbus to State College?
I looked at the map, it seems 70 to the PA Turnpike than I-99 would be the shorter route.
I could be wrong.

A bit off topic but...
I booked an extra room at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott for the Coastal Carolina game which I no longer need. It’s out by the Target and Wegman’s, right across the street from the Olive Garden. The place is really nice and has complimentary hot breakfast buffet.
If you would like to take the reservation, email me. The room has 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa. My email address is in my profile.

It is nice...
I was there a couple of weeks ago when my son I needed to spend one night since my siblings had all the bedrooms at my parents’ house. Of course, I got the employee rate through my sister-in-law, so i won’t say how little I paid.

From Columbus
It is faster to take 70 to 99. 2 years ago I drove from State College to Columbus via 80, then back via 70 and 70 was a good 1 or 1 1/2 faster…

maybe I will try that way then
I use to live right outside of Pittsburgh and always went up to PSU games but once I moved to Columbus I have not had the chance to get to a game. Maybe I will try one way up and the way back home to see which is faster.

You can't stay in DuBois if you take 70
which is why I mentioned it. You might try Bedford, which is about the same distance away.

This is gonna be a fun game!
If you make it to the End Zone early Friday evening, I’ll buy you a beer at the shed out the back. You’re on your own for lap dances, tho.
