No surprise here
I’ve been waiting to see MRob’s picture to get the troops fired up.

nice pic
Its amazing how he went from super -recruit – to average player – to legend.

Easily
my favorite Penn Stater…
Hard to argue that he’s not one of the top 5 players to ever don the blue and white. The man IS Penn State.

Even if he did...
It’s not completely ridiculous, considering what the program had sunk to prior to 2005. I always look at Robinson and Poz as two sides of the same coin. Their influence extended way beyond their on-field contributions.

MRob
I would certainly put MRob on the short list of all time PSU greats.

The man IS Penn State
I don’t know if one player can personify Penn State. If one guy can, I sure don’t know who it is. But whoever it is, my guess is that he was on the field during the Fiesta Bowl in 1987.
My vote is for John Bruno.

Bruno
Wasn’t he the one guy that responded to Jerome Brown at the dinner?
Brown: The Japanese didn’t sit down to dinner with us before they bombed Pearl Harbor. C’mon guys. We’re out of here.
Bruno: Didn’t the Japanese lose?

He was the guy
Then he punted Penn State to victory.
Both were gone within 8 years of that game too.

That's why I picked him
The combination of the “Jerk Store” comeback and the fact that everyone with eyes saw him back it up in the game. How the hell does a puter back up trash talk?

It's an episode of Seinfeld
George was upset because a guy got him with a one liner at a meeting, and he thought of the a really good comeback on the way home, but way too late to be any good. The line was “yeah, well the jerk store called and they are all out of you!”
The fact that the comeback wasn’t funny was the whole premise for the show, which is one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes ever.

I've been going since my freshman year, 1995
Mike Robinson’s 2005 season was the best individual season I have seen out of any player in that span.
This gives me a good idea for a bonus question when I get to pick BWR questions.

imo
collins actually didn’t live up to his full potential – MRob did.
Collins was the “leader” of an offense loaded with experience/success – MRob had to carry the team on his back.
I couldn’t wait for Collins to take over as starting quarterback. I wanted the coaches to leap frog Robinson.
Robinson probably had a better (at least respective to his offense) defense to rely on – and Collins started playing before the 4th quarter of the 4th game -
However – no matter how old (like me) you are – Michael Robinson was (for that brief shining moment) one of the most magical players to ever don the uniform.

I think nearly every starter on offense
on the ‘94 team made NFL rosters, so Collins definitely had more to work with, for me he’s up there with MRob because ’94 was my first season at Main campus, making that 12-0 season that much more special.
There’s no question the ‘05 defense was much better than the ’94 defense, because I don’t think the ‘94 defense could have held Ohio St. to 10 points, but then again they didn’t have to because they beat them 63-14 . . .

Did you know?
That to a very specific group of fans, i.e total uniform freaks, that this is actually a very interesting picture.
It has always been held that Penn State totally sold out to Nike in 1994 when it allowed them to put the swoosh on the jerseys, I always contended that it was not a big deal because the uniforms has previously had a different manufactures logo on them, but until just this second I never had photographic evidence of it. So this picture was kind of a big deal for me. Thanks.
Another interesting yet seen uniform oddity is the blue on blue or white on white stylized PSU that was on the uniforms in 2001 and 2002.
I am fully aware that nobody cares.

where on the uniforms was the "blue or white stylized PSU that was on the uniforms in 2001 and 2002"?

They were on the sleeve
Unless you are looking at a picture called “this is a picture of the stylized Penn State logo on the sleeve” you can’t see it. It is a really neat uniform element that only lasted a season or two.

i am in that group
definitely are “Champion” jerseys….at least you can see that clearly on the pants. I never noticed the logos prior to the Nike swoosh, so this is sort of a new tidbit for me too….so thanks.
and yes Mike, I’m sure you would’ve had a riot on your hands; had you not put up MRob’s picture. Just be thankful you didn’t decide to put Richard Casey up there.

Casey
His run against Illinois helped me survive my freshman year in what was the beginning of the Dark Period. It was a 40-yd run but he must have ran over 100 yds on the play.

Amazement, looming disaster, anger, amazement, anticipation, elation – all in one play. Say what you will, that guy was always exciting to watch.

Man do I wish we had the current (crappy) BCS system back in 1994, Collins would have dismantled Nebraska.

what i love most about that picture is that everyone is clearly looking down the field, and MRob is walking away with his fist raised, triumphant.

Good eye
That’s why when I came across that pic I knew I had to use it. The fact everyone is watching the endzone while he is just walking off the field with his head down shows his hard working determination. He’s only looking forward and never back. The fist raised in the air shows his confidence and swagger. Walking away from the camera is like he’s walking off into the sunset closing a chapter. It’s just a great pic.

MROB...
not only earned my respect on the field but off as well. At the Blue & White game after he graduated he came up through the crowd to the Blue Band and thanked them all personally which I thought was all class.
