My Comcast Complaint

I go into more detail over on my blog [link], but wanted to share this thought with you guys here.

If you are a Comcast customer you may be happy about getting the Big Ten Network recently, but are you as mad as I am that it is not in HD with Comcast?

Seriously.  I waited this long for the network and now I have to watch it in crappy SD on my nice widescreen HDTV.

I complained to Comcast and voiced my opinion and I hope you fellow Comcast customers will do the same and request for the channel to be added in HD.

Just go to Comcast's feedback page [link] and fill out the form and request for BTN to be available in HD.  Maybe one person can't do much good, but if a great number of people do they may think about it.  You never know.

5th Tier* Programming At Last!

I'm pretty sure I have it in HD

At least it says HD in the description… I’m in the Harrisburg area.

Maybe you need to sports tier package for that? Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about?

I have HD package and sports tier package

In Philadelphia area. All of my Big Ten programming says it is available in HD, but the channel I am being fed is not broadcast in HD. For example, I get ESPN on it’s regular channel, and I get the HD version on another channel. With Big Ten Network I only get one signal and it is not the HD signal.

Philly

It is in HD in almost all areas except for Philadelphia area….pretty dumb considering Comcast is based out of Philly

and...

The programming/guide is consistently wrong. When you complain about no HD, complain about that too.

I've noticed that too.

Same problem with the Fox College Sports channels many times as well on my sports tier package.

Is BTN

on regular/basic cable or is it just on digital cable?

I am cheap and do not have digital cable and was flipping around this weekend and noticed the BTN. I hope that they weren’t just previewing it this week in order to bump up sales. I hope it is on my black and white 13" TV for the entire season.

I'm Just Glad . . .

To have it. I live in the DC area and one day last week I received a reply from the BTN saying they weren’t sure where Comcast was going to carry it in non—Big 10 states.

That day, I found it on my Sports Tier.

It’s in regular TV, but it beats not having it. Can’t wait to watch that Coastal Carolina game.

But when

Comcast Alexandria customers get the game 23 hours after it begins — I don’t think they have overflow channels and OSU vs. YSU is the listed game at noon on Saturday.

I'm Comcast Arlington

So I’m probably in the same boat, although I’ll be in Pittsburgh this weekend.

I’ll have to Ti-Vo it at home so I can examine the game film twice.

I think they are the exact same system

Hopefully these overflow channels exist and I will be able to watch Temple game live from the comfort of my couch. I also emailed BTN about the game, but have not heard anything.

Overflow!

Looks like my fears have been for naught — BTN says there are overflow channels

I jumped to DirectTV

Way more HD channels across the board. Cable is a thing of the past.

Yep, that's what I did.

And Comcast was actually good to me for a while. But I had to switch, and don’t regret it at all.

I get BTN, but no Penn State...

I live in Massachusetts. I had to add the Sports & Entertainment Package to get the BTN. $8 a month ($5 for the first three) plus $2 to add it. When I look at the listing for this Saturday, they have the OSU game. I called Comcast to ask about it & the CSR says “I don’t know much about sports” & proceeds to basically just do a search of the listings & is no help. I try the online chat. Joanna says that the BTN decides what games are shown. I know that the BTN makes all the games available to Comcast, but apparently Comcast can decide which ones to show as “overflow” or not. I filled out Comcast form to ask via email who decided not to carry the Penn State game. I also asked how much it would cost me if I cancelled the Sports package since I don’t feel like paying to get OSU & Michigan games.

I thought that too, but

it expands to four channels on Saturdays, you should get all the games. I know you do with the satellite.

BTN & Comcast

You will get it for free for a while, then comcast is moving it to the digital sports tier. I just don’t remember if it is after this years Big 10 BB tourney or next years…..

Only in Big Ten country....

those of us that live elsewhere have to get the sports package.

Princeton, NJ

Only gets one channel and you have to pay for the sports package… I’m not even going to risk it this week, I’m going to the valley baby!

Already Had the Sports Package

It’s great too, you can watch college football games the entire offfseason.

Pac-10 women’s volleyball is great too, as well as college baseball.

I wish I could get a package where I only had to pay for the sports channels. There’s nothing much else I watch.
