FWIW
Not impressed at all. If they can’t score points against Stanford in nearly a quarter, what will they do against us?

It just looks like their offense does not have its timing down
Maybe they are also running HD. I like the looks of plowing the ball down the middle of their defense.
I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?

I'm watching Obama, but...
I see OSU is giving up a ton of yards on the ground. Bad sign for their chances next Saturday.

Technology, man!
Recording Oregon State on the DVR for later consumption. I watched half of the South Carolina / N.C. State abortion earlier. Holy fuck. That knocked down my football buzz enough to switch over.

Technology?
Dorm rooms do not lend themselves to DVR. I am jealous of you.

Where was Indy Jones?
Actually, forget the Greeks. Forget Indy. It would’ve been much funnier if he worked in an Eddie Murphy bit from The Golden Child.

Royster is gonna Roll
I say we just run all day against these guys. They’re giving up 11 ypc to Stanford, what are they going to do against our line and a running back who is nationally recognized? GO STATE!!!

I think they ditched
those shitty uniforms they used to wear so they would not look stupid in State College next week.

Stanford
Has 127 yards on the ground at halftime…that can NOT be good for OSU next week against us…

stanford...
looks like they can run. Gerhardt’s good, and the fb’s a throwback. Still, I agree, we should run all over this team, inside and outside.

Oregon State...
just looks sloppy on defense. Not sure if that is something they can fix by next week.

You can't fix that
Their D line was tired and sucking by half way through the second quarter. We shouldn’t need anything fancy, the only way we lose is by beating ourselves (enter the HD pass).

this is their first game....
and they will get some of these problems ironed out, but not enough of them to keep it close with us. I am holding all of my judgments, however, until I actually see our team play on saturday.

That's a tough way to lose the game...
Heartbreaking, really.
Better not turn our backs on these guys if we get a lead.

Heartbreaking indeed. That QB did not impress me in the least. Scirrotto and Davis will have a field day if he plays like that.

I'm not sleeping on Stroughter or Riley's ability to put an offensive game plan together...
Does anyone realize our team hasn’t played a single game yet? Does anyone realize that Oregon State’s QB has probably 15 TDs at Oregon State and he is a JUCO transfer, our top two QBs came in as freshman and have a combined 37 pass attempts and NOT ONE DAMN SINGLE PASSING TD as a respective prep/RS JR./SR. & a rs SO.Adding to our troubles, Jay is a retard…he will surely try to be cute. And if/when we do get a lead, this coaching staff will probably go into a coma.
Once that happens you won’t see a single ball leave a QBs hand, and it will be a few mildly sustained drives with zero points or maybe a FG and one 3 & out after another. Would you feel more comfortable having Riley game plan on offense, or having Jay Paterno game plan while Galen Hall chomps down on his fingers until he hits bone? We’ve gotten abused by ND, UM, tOSU, Wisconsin, UM (after getting obliterated by App State & Oregon), tOSU & Illinois; not a single one of those schools did it with more than 3 weapons. Oregon State easily has 4 WRs they have no problem throwing the ball, 2 or 3 RBs, Rodgers/Stroughter for KRs…Stroughter and whoever else for PRs…
When they blow Coastal Carolina out of the water on Saturday there will be a few benchmarks to keep in mind prior to the Oregon State game a week later:
1. Quarless is apparently going to play…great news. Hope he doesn’t go get his celebratory “I caught 3 passes for 27 yards” drink on and get arrested.
2. See how our LBs react to many quick throws to the Oregon State WRs, and whether or not they can tackle the kind of athleticism they may see out of 4 or 5 different WRs/RBs on Oregon State’s team. Quick hitches, WR screens, constantly attacking the middle off the field even though their QB is 5’11.
3. Our QB/QB(s) play against Coastal Carolina couldn’t possibly mean less. They might as well go throw the ball outside the stadium on Friday with no defenders and record the stats; because that is how much those stats will mean. INTs, fumbles, WILL KILL US.
4. Can we actually defend a team that doesn’t mind a turnover or two? A team that plays with some balls…? I haven’t seen the stats, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Stroughter had damn near 165 yards and 2 TDs, they had another receiver with well over 125 yards as well. I’ll be mildly surprised if either one of our QBs could even get close to distributing the ball like that and have over 300 yards passing.
5. Can we actually pass the ball? It’s what we should be doing with our 3 senior WRs but Jay is our QB coach/OC so we can’t do anything in the passing game. Better to put more pressure on the OL & RBs then shore up any weaknesses, don’t be surprised to see a few INTs against these DBs. I believe Oregon State was missing a safety in this game, can’t remember his name but he crushes people. I’m positive we will be able to run the ball, and it is going to be great pounding at them with our OL & Royster but I wouldn’t be surprised if Green gets bottled up. The younger Rodgers brother is the real deal, they’ll be ready for us trying to get to the corner with Green and their D looks fairly fast.

Did you...
…even watch the game? Stanford ran the ball at will, and OSU’s defense was gassed. Here’s to guessing we have a better OL/RB combo than the Cardinal. I don’t know if Stanford had much more than 100 yards passing.
OSU’s QB…was bad. Overthrowing and underthrowing WR’s, throwing a ball for a safety, throwing INT’s.
I mean, we’re not a perfect team, but c’mon. If STANFORD was able to treat OSU like that at home, what will we do to them?

Just trying to make the point that...
You can’t really use the transitive property to determine future outcomes. Just b/c Stanford beat USC, and we’ll all agree Stanford was pretty bad last year, doesn’t mean that we would’ve beaten USC.
I think we’ll win the game as we should have a decisive advantage running the ball with our OL vs. the OSU DL, but we haven’t even seen PSU play yet this year, so we’re basing our decision on potential.
I guess what I’m trying to say is we shouldn’t simply dismiss them b/c Stanford beat them (See UM, 2007). Something that should worry us is OSU’s receivers got deep on Stanford plenty of times last night….something that’ll definitely be a test for our shaky secondary from last year.

With a Qb like that
Our dbacks will use the transitive property of the pick6 variety. Oh, and our Dline looks to transition into their backfield. And if any poor schlub RB gets out in the flat? Wait for it….our linebackers will be like transistors sparking electrical hits to their frontsides.

PSU RB's for OSU
Maybe more of a game initially for Royster/Carter than Royster/Green.
Throw in Clark & we’ll pound ’em up the middle.
Then, Green in the 3Q

I think Green will be the star in that game, actually.
And this is just based on seeing a little of last night’s game, but I saw a lot of yards being gained on the outside of that OSU defense…

Quarless........
hopefully he won’t be jumping offsides all afternoon.
TV…………neither team looked very fast last night to me, but we all know that could be a complete optical illusion.
