One of my longstanding policies
Is that if I ever see Jim Cantore walking in the streets of my hometown, I’m getting the hell out of dodge.

I wish you the best of luck. If you would have stayed in good old PA though………

Be careful
Be careful, although the storm isn’t as strong as some others (it’s bordering between Category 2 and 3), it’s massive size is churning up a lot of water and might bring a storm surge of 15-20 feet.

Not this weekend...
I’m happy the the two Crap fronts are converging a few hours southwest of here to form the perfect $h*t storm Saturday, around 3:30pm.

That must have been during my three weeks of no internet!
I have been wondering where in the hell you came from! J/K I like having different views here. Mike, my prayers are with you man. Check that flood insurance, get some bread and peanut butter, and a weeks worth of creamed corn and you will make it man!

look at it this way
if you need a place to crash, i hear there’s nothing significant happening (except for an ass whooping) in the carrier dome for a while, im sure they’d let you shack up there for a bit

Where's Brownie when you need him
He does a heckuva job in these situations. So, where exactly do you live? I used to live in The Woodlands for three years before moving back to SC. One of the Tropical Storms (Allison, maybe?) was the closest we got to what’s heading in there now, though.

I'm in Katy
I’m far enough from the coast I’m not in the evacuation zone. They tell people in my area to “shelter in place”. We’re expecting 70 mph winds here which might knock my fence over, but I should be alright. It’s been bright and sunny here all morning, but I can just now see the high level clouds starting to move it. Time to hunker down.
Thanks to all for the well wishes. There’s a good posibility I may lose power for a few days which will seriously hamper my super human blogging abilities. But I’ll keep RUTS updated with how I’m doing and I’m sure he’ll pass it along to you all.
May God have mercy on our souls.

as I'm sure you know...
get everything out of the yard or tied down – secure the windows if you can – fill up the gas/propane tank – and just be safe.
One of the gals from our tailgate just flew out of Houston yesterday – she said that traffic and crowds were already nutty.
By the way, I was wondering – do people buy eggs, milk and bread before hurricanes (like we do before snow/ice storms)? Or is it more – ice, water and jiffy pop?

Thanks for the advice
We’ve got plenty of bottled water, batteries, flashlights, candles, etc. I’ve cleaned out the garage and parked both cars inside Even filled up the bathtub with water so we can wash up and flush toilets and stuff. We’re stocked up on food for a few days and I’ve been making ice like crazy since Wednesday. And yes, people do panic in the grocery stores just the PA people do when there is a snow storm coming. .
Wish I had time to board up the windows, but having just moved in a few weeks ago it never occured to me until this week when it was too late to mobilize. Very few people in my neighborhood boarded up my windows so they don’t seem to be too worried.

Sorry, wrong SC
I meant “SC” as in “State College”. Guess when I’m speaking PSU-ese, I don’t think about the fact that “SC” can actually have another meeting.

my boss is from NC (New Castle?) – so when I ask about time off to go to “SC” she usually asks “are you going to the beach?” -
and I respond – “yes, Colyer Beach.”

Get drunk and fight it
At least thats what I did when I lived in South Florida for a couple years from ‘04-’06. There isnt much that a case of Natty and a flashlight can’t beat.
In all seriousness, best of luck Mike.

Stay safe
That’s really about all i’ve got! It looks like you’re South of Houston though so you may get through it pretty well based on where the strongest part of the storm looks to be headed (straight up Galveston Bay), just watch for flash flooding. If the power goes out, remember it’s only Syracuse…or something like that….

If you want, fly to B-more and RUTS will pick you up.
We have a big party this weekend for my daughter, then a bounce party on Sunday…oh yeah I have a keg/food/extra room if needed.
RUTS will even provide sponge bath if needed.

Ground control to Major Tom
We survived the storm. My house is still standing and everyone is safe. Power was out for 20 hours so I missed the game, but everything is pretty much back to normal now so we’re very thankful.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers.
