The numbers at the end of the month.
PSU - Illinois 2008. The day people realize this JoePa guy is still pretty good?
A little perspective before this week's game, but if PSU defeats Syracuse, Temple, and Illinois this September:
-PSU will have won 80% of its games since the "Indiana Stand" in 2004. Keep in mind PSU had lost 6 in a row prior to that game.
-Bobby Bowden will need to defeat Wake Forest and Colorado to stay ahead of JoePa in all-time wins.
-JoePa's winning percentage will by exactly 75% all-time. Phil Fulmer will need to defeat either Florida or Auburn to keep JoePa out of 3rd place for highest all-time win percentage (min. 100 games coached).

That’s unpossible – Joe doesn’t know how to coach any more!
Sarcasm aside, on the macro level, PSU is clearly one of the most successful teams of the past three years by any measure. Wins, bowl wins, ticket sales, etc.
On the micro level, I may kill the next player who gets arrested in State College, and we need to beat OSU or Michigan (or both!) for 08 to be considered a success.
Thanks for the reminder that we have one of the, if not THE, greatest coaches of all time!!!

JoePa
Here’s an interesting question:
What criteria would Joe need in order to retire as a ‘the single greatest college football coach of all time’?
He already has the bowl wins, bowl win percentage. He’s lacking in NC’s by a few — but dominating in perfect regular seasons. He’s also easily in reach of most wins ever, and widely regarded as more committed to academics and integrity than the likes of Bowden…
What would do it for you? 21 wins and a NC in the next 2 years? 20 wins and two BCS wins in two years? I’m curious to see how other people answer this.
Easiest way...
Six undefeated seasons in 5 different decades. That would be the the iron standard for coaching all-time, possibly in all sports.
How about these numbers...
Check out ESPN’s projected numbers for Royster based on what he has done in 2 games so far this year.

Obviously things won’t actually pan out like this, but I can see him achieving the 1230 yards….it’s the 36 TDs that might be a bit of a stretch.
I bleed Blue and White.
He's not going to score 36 TD's
But I’ll be suprised if he doesn’t rush for more than 1230 yards.

e-mailed to me earlier today... I think you will enjoy...
After former Florida State head football coach Bowden dies and enters the Pearly
Gates, God takes him on a tour. ?God shows Bobby a little two-bedroom house
with a faded FSU banner hanging from the front porch.
God says, "This is your house, coach. Most people don’t get a house up here.
Bobby looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the big house
sitting on top of a big hill. It’s a huge two-story mansion with white
marble columns and little patios under all the windows. Penn State flags
line both sides of the walkway, and a huge Penn State banner hangs between
the marble columns.
“Thanks for the house, God. But, let me ask you a question. I get this
little two bedroom house with a faded FSU banner and Paterno gets a mansion
with new Nittany Lion banners and flags flying all over the place. Why is
that?”
God looks at him seriously for a moment and says, “Paterno’s not dead.
That’s my house.”
Send that...
over to Adam @ the ESPN Blog…he’ll post that one!
